South Philly has always been a majority Italian area as well as Irish. North Philly seems to be the main black area in Philly, so opposite sides. But I'm sure one of the Philly guys on here would know.

Theres plenty of Blacks, Asians, and Hispanics is South Philly too.

Speakeasies Raided in South Philly

Any gossip in South Philly on if these guys were connected?

Speakeasies? Is this the 1920's ? Really though I had no idea stuff like this still was going on. Makes sense now though if you can't get a license you'd have to do that.

south Philly if off the hook. They don't have shady bars and clubs where you guys live? Go eat at mama marias and your five course dinner comes with bottles of liquor brought to your table after dessert. I remember going to after hours clubs like the republican at 5am they got girls stripping and everything. These guys look like some regular dusty mfers, but based on where they were located maybe somebody got a piece of that I'd assume.

The Cambodian guys are psycho... there are black neighborhoods in south philly... I haven't noticed too many Hispanics in south philly, black b*tches, Asians and Italian guys and some white people. but I'm just there to shop and eat so as long as no one talks to me too much, robs me, or eats my food I'm happy! : )

Half of the "Italian" market is now Hispanic...there are other Hispanic areas in south philly too just .. 2nd street over by Oregon intersection and back in there..
Certain areas along Snyder ave are also black and Hispanic mostly between 2nd and 10th street or so

I'm very confused about what a modern day speak easy would be? I thought those were needed only in the 1920's during the era of prohibition? Or is that where people sell stolen alcohol for cheaper than the cost at a regular liquor store in order to save money on the tax for alchohol?

There are some legal "speakeasies" popping up as bar/restaurants around the city..old school drinks served .. Food - all overpriced .. The staff dressed in old world clothing.. If you're into that kind of thing the places aren't bad...some have the piano player and live music

It's just a bar or after hours place without a liquor license. Obviously a little under the radar but I would imagine there are at least 50 in south philly
