The Trafficantes are pretty much done as far as being what can be considered a family. LoScalzo is supposed to be the boss of what left.
I'd say the Gambinos have had the biggest presence in Florida since the 1980's. Vinnie Artuso has a crew around Palm Beach, but he's away until 2016.
The Genovese have a crew that was run by Renaldi Ruggiero. I don't know if he's still involved or leadership has passed to someone else. He's about 80 years old

I'd say the Gambinos have had the biggest presence in Florida since the 1980's. They have the most visible presence, but a few of the guys from the Westside's 116th Street crew own a TON of property down there. I'm talking about Publix shopping centers. Seriously. Vinnie Artuso has a crew around Palm Beach, but he's away until 2016. Yeah, I personally hope he packs it in. Johnny Artuso gets out a little bit earlier. He'll go back into the real estate business and stay there. Guaranteed. The Genovese have a crew that was run by Renaldi Ruggiero. I don't know if he's still involved or leadership has passed to someone else. He's about 80 years old He's very sick. That wasn't just an act to get out of jail.

I'm trying to find some info about the current mafia if any in Miami and/or Florida. Also if there are any mobsters imprisoned here or any that I would be able to talk to for informational purposes that would help as well.
I know the Traficante family and I believe the Gambinos are still around in Tampa and some parts of Florida but am not really certain about the specifics. Anyone that can help me out? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Sgarrista, Welcome to the boards. What's left of the LCN in South Florida consists of a handful of guys connected to the Gambino and Genovese families. They are involved in offshore/online gambling, pill mills, counterfeit drug online pharmacies, boiler room phone scams and Medicare/Medicaid fraud.

They have pretty much been shut down but some guys made a ton of those pill mills I know of a guy not even remotely connected to the life who made about twenty million in Broward with that shit. And he just got close to thirty years for it. Not worth it. Fuck that.

I saw recently in broward and few othee areaa these dumb fks are still doing this but the state and DEA shut ythem down fast now The pill mill crackdown only succeeded in driving up the price of the pills and putting the more blatant operators out of business, there are dozens of clinics still operating down here. The unintended effect of the crack down on the pill mills has been forcing the addict to find a cheaper alternative and the ever present bad guys have been quick to fill the need. What we are seeing is some of these guys previously involved in pill mills are now involved in heroin distribution and sales which is by far more deadly and destructive, at least you know what your getting when you pop an oxy 30, these kids have no idea what the heroin is cut with and unfortunately the Mexican cartels have been cutting it with fentanyl in an effort to gain market share. We all know the deadly consequences of their marketing strategy....

Most of you probably know of Bill aka Limey from the RD. He's also done some great charts for the Informer mag where he lists early members of different families. He's got a blog now where he puts up the same type of lists; http://mafiamembershipcharts.blogspot.it/search/label/TampaLoScalzo Vincent Salvatoreb.1937 Boss Amorelli-Antonio b.1947 Sol Belitto-Giuseppe Joe Baldy Sol Miami Chiusano-Julius b.1948 Sol Miami Napoli-Michael b.1951 Sol Scarola-Frederick* b.1942 Sol Silvestri-John* Sol Spitaleri-Joseph* Sol

Thank you for the warm welcome and information gentleman, I have always been interested in the mob and just recently found this site. Is there anyone here that's connected or knows people who are?
Is it still true that they only let Italians be made men or has that rule changed?
Also who would you guys say I would be best off talking to? If it makes a difference at all I'm of Cuban decendance and I'm too young to be a cop so I can't see them being worried about that really. I also have a clean criminal record. I'm new to all this so could use all the help I can get, if anyone would like to talk in private feel free to pm me or ask for my email so we can communicate. I don't really think this is a recruitment type of site. But good luck on your quest

So you want to join the mob? I'm not making fun of you, son. But do yourself a favor and leave stuff like that off the board. Trust me, it won't end well here. It never does. And if you don't mind some advice from a not so young guy, go back to school and get a job. It's over. And welcome to the board .

In this day and age, it will be a short career. But on the upside, you could always write a book from prison. You might make the next goodfellas script..

I'm a little bit brighter than to right about it online if I was looking to join the mob. Some info never hurts though.
I'm more interested in how they run their businesses, or used to, not the illegal ones so much as the legal ones such as real estate and things like that.
A bit of mentoring is more what I'm looking for, good ways to make money. From what I understand the smart mobsters got out of the illegal side of things and run pretty successful businesses here. I'm a business person, and no I don't mind advice pizzaboy and thank you for thinking of my well being, however I'm not a 9-5 job type of person. Doesn't have to be mobsters either, if any succesful business owners would like to teach a few things to a younger guy I'd appreciate that too. And I've asked for advice on other sites as well, but the mob tends to be pretty connected and that always helps with business which is why I thought it would be a good idea to talk to some of them.
But if I'm wrong then by all means let me know, I dont mind, if I knew the answers I wouldn't be asking. The part about my nationality is because I know that a lot of the old school families as well as a lot of people in general don't take too kindly to certain groups of people or people who aren't Italian.

Advice from a CPA: Buy low, sell high, and keep your customers happy. Find a good bookkeeper and keep a close eye on him/her. Good advice. And even if you're not a "9 to 5" type of guy, you're much better off in business school (even a few night classes) than with those guys .

The Bonannos and Colombos have also had activity down there in recent years. Not so much the Luccheses. But it's safe to say all the NY families have some presence there, more or less. Eurasian OC is currently the FBI's #1 OC priority in Miami/South Florida right now.

Well, I see that Miami is listed as your location. I live up in Delray part time now. But my parents had a place in Sunny Isles years ago and I've kept in touch with that area. And there are a lot of Bukharians and other Russian offshoots there now doing some shy business. And look for the Bukharians to set up shop in the barbershops, as both a legitimate means of income, and as a front. Just like they've done over here in Rego Park and Forest Hills .

Delray nice, plenty of action if you want, also can find quiet if that's your thing. I'm in Key Biscayne thru next April. Work at Port of Miami last couple years. My guy is a Albanian I think, just didn't want to use the guy everyone else got at work. He goes down there all done and a year away from a check a month I don't need that! My guy good, always pays on time, let's less than a G roll over, smells like shit though!

What are the typical rackets the Bukharians run? Over here the so-called "Russian mafia" are in fact almost all Georgians. Some are regular Georgians, some are Yezidi Kurds, some are Georgian Jews,...but they all come from Georgia, all belonging to either one of the two large criminal organizations in that country (the "Tbilisi" and the "Kutaisi"). Their rackets: the usual- drugs, weapons, prostitution, fraud, armed robbery, burglary, car theft,... The media really has a thing for ominously labeling all former Soviet crime groups as "The Russians"
