Ted - The poster "marine" may come off a little nutty, but what he's saying is believable if you were in Joey Merlino's orbit back when he was partying it up in the 90s on Delaware avenue and in Margate. It was hard not to see him out because he was constantly at all the hot spots and he was treated like a celebrity. Point is, there are a bunch of incidents like this. Using money that wasn't his, taking jewelery off of people, having his goombah's rough people up for no good reason. Some people on this board likely witnessed his antics first-hand. As for whether he is boss, if he still is, then our FBI/Police are really off their game because that money kicked up to him just doesn't magically appear without any kind of paper trail, delivery/courier service, etc. Not in this day and age; especially if they are watching him like a hawk. Had a bartenders head flushed down a toilet caused he touched joeys money at the bar to early... What the hell are you talking about? Yeah, Merlino would use a fucking courier service to have illicit money sent to him. Or maybe he uses fedex, and on the memo line they put "Joey's share from crime!" I am sure some associate/friend like wags who travels from philly to florida to visit his pal Joey wouldn't be an easier way.

Ted - you're joking right? I mean come on... Chopped a bartenders head off and flushed it down a toilet? Flip me over I'm done... You are a jerk-off. lmao I think he meant a "swirlie" I cracked up when I read that too, but Joey was known as a prick. I think I know the incident he is talking about, but I don't know if they flushed the guys head or just slapped him around for taking Joey's money off the bar that was sitting there and assuming it was for his tab... But Joey never paid his own tab.

Yeah, i meant that he has the money delivered to him on a silver platter like I'm a jerk-off. What I meant was that if a bunch of people who follow the mob for a hobby NOT A JOB, can postulate how the money gets to him, why the fuck can't the Law???
Wags musta dug a tunnel to florida. Either that, or the FBI has checked out Merlino's income sources and are either: satisfied he's letting some rich guy pay is way or they are gonna Al Capone him in the future.
And as far as him being a jerkoff, not paying tabs, fucking people over, I saw it on more than 1 occassion. He and I are the same age and from the same area. Like I said, you couldn't help but run into those guys.

Suspect someone of making book... You still gotta prove everything. I wonder if he plans to return to Philly once his restrictions or up. His best bet is to stay parked even after he is off parole. Feds will have a hard on for this guy for the rest of his life.

Feds will have a hard on for this guy for the rest of his life. Yup. And if he IS back in the game, they'll eventually indict him for something. That's just the way it goes.

Even if he isn't boss, it won't matter to the feds. I remember the one guy from New England, I dont remember if it was Luigi Manocchio, had been retired for years and was living in Florida and the feds nailed him for an old extortion.

Below is a little reaction by George Borgsei on the recent news of him ascending to boss of the philly mob. This is part of a weekly north American mob column I (Scott Burnstein) will be launching next month (i.e. this is the kind of stuff you'll be getting)
Good ole’ Georgie Boy was just as shocked reading the news about himself, as most of those who were reading it about him were.
Last week, in a story on CoasNostraNews.com that has since been revised, George (Georgie Boy) Borgesi, the-recently released from prison 50-year old Philadelphia mafia stalwart was named the new boss of the Philly mob. Borgesi, the nephew of don Joseph (Uncle Joe) Ligambi, reached out to multiple people in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey media, expressing his dismay and confusion with the report that he deemed false, wondering where Coasnostranews' sources were getting their information.
Despite his pedigree and gangster past, the Philly mafia’s one-time consigliere is desperately trying to keep a low profile on the heels of his dozen-year plus trip to the can that came to an end a few months back.
The original printing of the story reported that Borgesi was using mob associates and brothers Mike and Stevie Salvo (roofers union) as his main proxies on the street, “grabbing everything back that was his before he went to jail” and taking over for the retiring Ligambi.
In January, Borgesi was sprung from federal prison after a 13-year stay on racketeering charges coupled with his beating further mafia-related charges alongside his uncle that came his way as he was about to be released from his 2000 conviction.
Ligambi and his nephew both beat the racketeering case twice at trial, most recently earlier this year, via hung-juries and acquittals.
Underworld sources in South Philly tell the Mob Insider that Ligambi is the syndicate’s current consigliere and Borgesi “might be able to get his stripes back as a capo or Ligambi’s replacement in his old post in the future, but for now, he’s merely a soldier.”
The sources peg Joseph (Skinny Joey) Merlino, convicted with Georgie Boy back in 2000, as boss of the crime family, ruling from afar in South Florida, relying on street boss Steven (Handsome Stevie) Mazzone and underboss John (Johnny Chang) Ciangalini to handle day-to-day affairs in Pennsylvania.
Borgesi is re-entering the Philadelphia mob at a delicate juncture right now, as multiple factions and eras jockey for position in a possible powder keg of a local gangland scene.

DM I bought Alabama on a future bet in Vegas to win the national championship this year. I got it at 7 - 1. I figured WTF when are you going to get a horse like that for that price? Do you like the bet? Other than the QB unknown it's the best roster in CFB. And I had McIlroy at the British @ 15 -1 same premise that kind of horse St that kind of price I got lucky. That might not be a bad bet. We'll be in the thick of it for sure. I still think next year is our BEST shot, but Coker will more than likely be our QB for this year and next. The biggest question will be our CB's. I don't even wanna know what we were going off at...
"What are you cacklin' hens cluckin' about?!?!"
"Is that him?!? With the sombrero on?!?"

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack. CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go. MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'. WILL: So don't go.

Any chance of this thread getting put to bed? Hell, Im more to blame than any other poster here, but f**k me. Every time I log on the most active thread in the mafia world is about the red haired pudgy italian becoming boss of the countries most dysfunctional mob. Its disheartening to say the least.... Where's a mod when you need one

This may upset a few but here it goes. It's unfortunate you have to disrespect the actor pictured above and George. This isn't a board regarding appearances but about organized crime. Just my thought. This is about the tamest board when it comes to this stuff. It's because the moderators here are fair, yet no nonsense. You should see the things they post on the other boards. Pictures, personal information, family insults, the whole nine yards. The point is, this type of subject matter lends itself to all kinds of people. Some kids, some wannabes, some crazies. But for the most part, this is a civil board with a lot if intelligent people who have a serious interest in movies, food, and yeah, some real life organized crime. When you live your life in the public eye, like mob guys do when they go on trial and to prison, people are going to talk about you. Especially in the Internet age. So relax. Heed the advice of your username. It is what it is .
