Good thinking DonMega. I will definitely have to buy extra memory. Thnx.
I got the PS4 bundle today from Costco plus 3 of the latest games: Assassins Creed, Far Cry 4, and Call of Duty . I heard GTA has some sexual content that would be inappropriate for my kid what do you think? Is it pretty graphic? We couldn't get Saints Row for that reason.
Sony has revealed it will making 100 limited edition 20th Anniversary PS4 consoles available for purchase online each day this week, assuming you don't mind jumping through some hoops first. ADVERTISEMENT
Following last week's pop-up shop in Central London, ways to get one of the 12,300 consoles are quickly running out, unless you're happy breaking the bank. You've still got to be prepared to do some legwork if you want one though.
At 11am this morning, the PlayStation website will be updated with an image containing over 300 of the company's most famous characters, with Sony advising, "Study the image well and make sure you know your PlayStation characters." Once you've done this, head on over to either the @PlayStationUK or @GAMEDigital Twitter accounts and make sure you're following at least one. Once a day, a cryptic clue will be tweeted alongside the #20YearsOfCharacters hashtag. That's your cue to speed to the website and click the corresponding character in the image. If you're right, you'll go to a hidden GAME page that asks you to fill out a form before submitting it.
The first 100 people will then be emailed within 24 hours with instructions of how to buy the console. After the first 100 have gone each day, everyone else will be added into a daily draw, with one of them winning an extra console. They're pretty long odds, so your best bet is to be quick.
Capcom recently updated the Japanese website for Resident Evil Revelations 2,
and in the process they gifted us with some new information regarding the return of its Raid Mode — a cooperative wave survival mini-game that plays like the Mercenaries mode from the main series — including a rundown of some of the tweaks and additions Capcom is introducing to it when the game’s first episode arrives next month.
Customization plays a bigger role this time around, as each character’s skills and arsenal can be modified to fit various playstyles. Loot has been improved, too, with the introduction of treasure chests that can be found scattered about each environment.
If couch co-op is something you like to do, the Raid Mode can now be played with a partner online or through split-screen. I’m pretty sure that’s a new feature.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 begins its episodic release on Feb 17. You can find the full release schedule, including release dates for each individual episode right here.
Capcom has announced the release date for its HD remake of Resident Evil.
The game will display in 1080p on current-gen and 720p on last-gen and frame rate options are included in the PC version.
It contains fully remastered sound effects with 5.1 surround support; all difficulty levels are present as well as the new “Very Easy Mode”; and you can switch between 4:3 ratio or 16:9 widescreen mode at any time.
You can also play it with classic controls, or use the revamped control scheme in which the character moves in the direction of the analogue stick.
Originally released in 1996 on PSone, the revamped HD version of the Game Cube remake will run you $19.99/€19.99/£15.99.
It will be digitally released on PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One from January 20 in Europe and North America.
Some screens and a gameplay video are posted below.

Dying Light is a 2015 survival horror video game developed by Polish video game developer Techland and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The game revolves around an undercover operative sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a fictional city. It features a zombie-infested, open-world metropolis with a dynamic day and night cycle. It was originally planned to release in 2014, but was pushed back to 2015. Dying Light generally received positive reviews from critics.
The March lineup of free games and offers for PlayStation Plus members may be announced a bit later than usual.
Speaking with fans in comments on the European PlayStation Blog, Manager Fred Dutton voiced an apology and explained that things were not yet ready for a full announcement.
"Sorry to keep you good folks waiting. I appreciate you’re all really keen to see the line-up and that it’s frustrating having to hang on a bit longer than usual," Dutton said. "Alas, we’re still not quite ready to make the announcement. I can’t give you a firm time at present as to when the post will go live, but we’re working to get it to you as soon as possible. It may well be next week at this stage."
Whether or not this also applies to other regions outside of Europe is not fully clear. IGN has reached out for more information.
While March's lineup has yet to be announced, a large 8-week PSN Spring sale is set to begin on March 3.
I have played every Diablo, beginning on my PC. I have been waiting for the release on the 4. Wish I could get The Stick of Truth there, but can't yet.
PS4 IN-GAME VIDEO CHAT SHOWN IN PLAYSTATION SHOW 'POWERS'
A scene from Powers shows a male character playing a PlayStation 4. A screenshot from the scene, as seen below, shows a female character using the name Chaotic Chick in a video chat box on the same screen as Infamous: Second Son.
This is in no way confirmation of video chat functionality and how it will look on PS4. However, Sony hopes to have video chat on PS4 in Q2 2015 through an app called ooVoo, according to a CES 2015 interview with ooVoo Vice President Brian Liebler, which was posted on YouTube by user SamueltehG33k. Oovoo on the PS4 would function similarly to Microsoft’s Skype on Xbox One.
Liebler also says the company would like to implement a streaming feature, allowing two users to view the content at the same time while video chatting. The ooVoo video chat app is currently available on PC, Mac, and mobile devices.
Why Now Is the Perfect Time for Powers
Powers premiered on PlayStation Network on March 10. The first episode is free for all viewers and the full first season is free to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
IGN reviewed Power’s pilot episode, giving it a 7.4 and saying “it holds promise” despite “some obstacles to overcome.” Check out IGN’s full breakdown of Powers, including everything you need to know and more about Sony’s original series.
Sony unveiled Project Morpheus at GDC 2014 introducing us to the first real virtual reality competitor to the Oculus Rift.
GDC 2015 saw the latest announcement revealing the newest evolution of Morpheus. Even better, barring any complications, we'll be able to own one in the first half of 2016.
Complete with a larger 5.7-inch OLED screen with 1920 x RGB x 1080 resolution. The field of view has been stretched to 100 degrees, and Project Morpheus now supports an impressive 120fps output (a new SDK will let 60fps images output at 120fps, too).
It now also supports 3D audio and has a new feature called social screen, which lets users take the same gameplay they see inside their Morpheus and put it on a TV so other people can play along.
Project Morpheus HELLO? (I'm using a virtual cell phone here) The new design is, obviously, the most noticeable part of the Morpheus. It feels far lighter than the Crescent Bay edition of the Rift - and it's far easier to put on and take off, especially for the glasses-adorned folk (like me). The visor even fits super comfortably over my large frames, though there were moments where they fogged up a little. But a simple push forward with a new quick release button on the bottom right of the visor, freed it from my face making is easy to readjust.
There's a new single band too, which again helps with putting on and taking off the headset. Once completely on properly, I didn't feel like I was going to fall over from the weight. Looking down might require a slight readjustment though, but nothing major like the whole thing slipping around - which has occurred when I've used Oculus. This might have also happened because I didn't have a lot of time to really fiddle around with the headset due to the demo's time constraint.
Project Morpheus Almost ready ... Three additional LEDS have been added on for a total of nine altogether - three can be found on each side, one on top and bottom, one smack dab in the middle of the faceplate and lastly, two lights on the very back. All this is supposed to help improve tracking accuracy which it definitely seemed to do.
During my demo of The London Heist, I felt like the Eye had a difficult time tracking my movements especially when I was trying to reload my gun quickly. It may have been due to me kneeling to hide behind a VR desk making it difficult for the camera to see my hands, but popping out to shoot the baddies proved easy.
Project Morpheus Pew pew pew The Morpheus still really shines with the Eye and Move controllers. Seeing my disembodied hands in the game and rummaging around drawers looking for objects reminded me of Surgeon Simulator but with far more accuracy, of course.
Project Morpheus The Move? Oh yeah, those things. Sony claims latency issues have been addressed as well. It was hard to tell with this demo since it was a straightforward shooter but ducking down to avoid being shot, looking down to reload and then quickly looking up to shoot didn't make me feel sick at all. The graphics in general were also almost on par with my previous Rift experiences which is impressive considering I was actually interacting with the environment around me instead of just looking at things.
Project Morpheus It doesn't look like I'm opening virtual drawers looking for a gun ... but I am The experience as a whole was pretty exciting. It's definitely the most interactive VR demo I've done, and the most fast paced. I loved how I wanted to experience something like BioShock Infinite or GTA V in VR, and this demo gave me a little sneak peek of what gaming could be like with FPS type games.
The other demo I tried involved a PS4 Dualshock controller and those little guys from Sony's augmented reality game, The Playroom.
The first part involved using the Dualshock controller to interact with the little bots. Pressing circle made music come on and cause the bots to dance, X shined a flashlight on their little faces (supremely annoying them) and so forth.
Project Morpheus Dance little bots, dance! The coolest part of this demo was seeing the controller actually in virtual reality, as in whatever buttons you pushed, the VR controller would respond in sync.
The light on the controller also serves a tracking point so turning it around in your hands simultaneously turned it virtually - so what you'll see is a PS4 controller floating in front of you to help guide you. I can see this being an interesting addition to future games as it should help you feel less weird using a controller in VR.
The second part of the demo was a real treat, and I could tell the creators had a blast making it. It was reminiscent of an Oculus Rift demo I tried at CES where you're basically observing a little scene. In this case, the experience involved peering into a little dollhouse with a bunch of rooms full of AR bots as they fought over sodas, had their own Morpheus experiences, swam in a pool and more. No direct interaction or controller was used but some bots would wave and turn their heads to stare at you. One was even flying a tiny DJI drone in your face, snapping pictures which made me want to keep swatting my hands around, but of course, there was nothing there.
Hearing the 3D sound from the drone felt like it was seamlessly coming from all around me. This was the case with the previous demo too, where shooters would be placed in different locations.
Early verdict
The newest Project Morpheus is magnificent. There seem to be a few minor hiccups to sort out but it feels like the hardware is solid, and far more comfortable than a lot o VR headsets out there which is huge. No one wants to wear something bulky and restraining for more than an hour, but I can see myself feeling pretty dang comfy with a Morpheus on my noggin.
The Crescent Bay edition of Rift is equally spectacular in usage compared to Project Morpheus but it doesn't provide any real game demos to show off how well it does with interactive experiences. Granted, the Oculus team seem more keen on providing immersive experiences without peripherals opposed to full on games.
This is where the Morpheus has the edge. Its proven itself a real contender for virtual reality in your living room thanks to the incorporation of the Move controllers and the PlayStation Eye.
SQUARE ENIX TRADEMARKS 'WORLD OF ASSASSINATION' AND 'PUZZLE SOCCER'
Square Enix has filed two trademarks which appear to shed light on a pair of new projects the Japanese company is planning to publish.
The first trademark is for something called "World of Assassination," which fans of IO Interactive's popular stealth-action franchise are probably hoping is the subtitle of the next installment in the Hitman series.
Considering the favorable critical reception Hitman: Absolution received when it launched back in 2012, I'd say fans are due for a proper follow-up.
Hitman: Absolution - Video Review 05:57 The other trademark is for "Puzzle Soccer," and based on the name alone, one could speculate it's a game for mobile devices. After all, Square Enix has been making a major push in the smartphone and tablet space for quite some time now. IGN Logo
Batman: Arkham Knight': Red Hood Gameplay Details Revealed As New Game Costume For 'The Dark Knight' Leaked Online! [PHOTO]
Good news gaming fans as new update for Rocksteady Studios' "Batman: Arkham Knight's" Red Hood pack and a new game costume have been revealed. According to Design&Trend, the plot details of the Red Hood DLC for "Batman: Arkham Knight" have been revealed due to the new ESRB rating that was given to the game.
"Batman: Arkham Knight" was categorized as rated M for Mature due to the scale of violence and several "rated R" details that children below should not know about. Design&Trend theorized that Red Hood's gameplay style is very different to that of Batman as the ESRB rating stated that "players can shoot unarmed characters and a hostage." Everyone who has read the Batman comics knows that Batman does not use guns to stop criminals in Gotham City, so the only logical explanation for that description is Red Hood might be using guns in the game. In the Batman mythos, Red Hood (real name Jason Todd) is the only member of the Bat family to ever use guns to stop criminals, and he does not hesitate to kill them off the streets. Design&Trend further implied that guns will figure into gameplay sequences beyond cutscenes. It was previously claimed by Lazygamer.net that Jason Todd and Arkham Knight are the same person, due to the fact that both characters are using the same set of guns in the game, although, Rocksteady never made any statement regarding the claim.
Aside from the Red Hood gameplay, there is also a new costume for "The Dark Knight" in "Batman: Arkham Knight." HardcoreGamer has reported that WB Games is promoting a special exclusive character skin for the game solely for members of the WBPlay service (similar to UPlay or EA Access). The costume is dubbed "Anime Batman" and is based on the Gotham Knight anthology, which was animated in a style similar to Japanese anime. Anime Batman costume (Photo : 4chan) "Batman: Arkham Knight" will launch on June 2 for the PS4, Xbox One and for the PC as Gamers can also pre-order The Batmobile Edition, which is worth $199.99, or the Limited Edition at $99.99.
Remastered versions of Warner Bros.' acclaimed action titles, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, are expected to be remastered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
IGN Italy claims that the two games will arrive on current-generation consoles by Christmas, suggesting that Batman Arkham Origins, which was developed at Warner Bros. Montreal, would not be given the same upgrade.
Warner Bros. has yet to announce the game or verify the rumor. GameSpot has contacted the publisher for more information.
Should the rumor prove to be true, it would mean the remaster would come months after the release of Batman Arkham Knight--believed to be the third and conclusive chapter in the trilogy, developed by London studio Rocksteady.
The first two Batman Arkham games gained near-unanimous praise from critics. GameSpot's Arkham Asylum review explained: "Everything about this game--the impressive visuals, stirring soundtrack, superb voice acting, fiendish puzzles, hard-hitting combat--feels like it has been lovingly crafted by a development team that's both knowledgeable and passionate about the source material. Miss out on this one and the joke's on you."
Its successor, Arkham City, was also rated highly: "From the speedy exhilaration of soaring high above the streets to the atmospheric thrill of discovering long-forgotten secrets in the tunnels below Gotham, this is an unforgettable adventure that will keep you coming back to the cape and cowl long after you've seen the credits roll."
Originally intended to be released in 2014, Batman Arkham Knight's release date has been delayed again, this time to June 23. The game is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more, check out some select images in the gallery below.
The PS4 is finally getting promised features thanks to a massive update.
Tomorrow the PlayStation 4 is getting a big update — and it will include a few features that owners of the console have been waiting for. The update is so big it has a codename: "Yukimura."
Chief among the new additions in the 2.50 system update is the suspend / resume feature; originally promised when the PS4 was first announced way back in 2013, the option lets players quickly jump in and out of games by pushing the PS4's power button, putting the console into a rest mode. You just push it again to turn it back on and pick up where you left off. Sony says the feature will be "supported by nearly all of your PS4 games."
Other new features include the ability to backup and restore things like saved data and user settings to an external USB drive. There will also be new social features, letting you find Facebook friends who also happen to own a PS4. You'll also now be able to figure out which friends are playing the same games as you, with the "Friends Who Play This" option. The PlayStation Network is also taking a page from Twitter's book, introducing new verified accounts; a badge on select accounts will let you see when you're playing against certain game developers. Meanwhile, Dailymotion has been added to the list of services where you can upload your gameplay clips.
As for future updates, Sony is introducing a new option so you can install them automatically. There's a lot more in the update, including better accessibility features, so be sure to check out the PlayStation blog for the full rundown. The update is expected to go live in North America tomorrow.
When I was 15, I discovered a game called Street Fighter II: The World Warrior at my neighborhood 7-11. It was my first blush with Capcom’s fighting series, but it sparked a relationship that’s lasted nearly 24 years. Every day after school, I’d take a slight detour to stock up on Skittles and plunk a quarter or two into Capcom’s arcade cabinet to practice Ryu’s Hadoukens and Shoryukens. Within a week I’d accumulated enough skill to take down M.Bison, and felt capable of confidently challenging human competitors.
As the years sped by, I loyally played each new Street Fighter release and expanded my skillset to characters like Ken and Akuma, never steering too far from that Ryu fighting style. It became muscle memory, and I remained competitive at the arcades and at home against friends.
mortal-kombat-x-logo
I was aware of Mortal Kombat and its alluring hyper-violence, but it felt foreign to me. Its controls seemed stiffer, jaw-dropping moves like Fatalities were difficult to pull off, and I was downright embarrassed during versus challenges. I was growing up, and I didn’t have the time to invest in mastering another fighter.
Many of you can relate to what happened next. As time became more and more of a premium in my life, there were less gatherings of friends. Less opportunities for that weekly or even monthly Street Fighter grudge match. Careers and school scattered everyone across the country, and playing games like Street Fighter IV against the online community got frustrating. Why? Because these people were borderline professionals next to my talents. I had fallen woefully behind. They were younger, more talented, and passionate about the game’s nuances – every counter, every super combo. And the formula for Street Fighter’s story mode refused to evolve, lasting all of 25 minutes. There wasn’t much left in the franchise for me to sink my teeth into.
That’s about when the ninth proper installment of Mortal Kombat was released, featuring a plot that retconned the original trilogy’s storyline, with a meaty single player mode that consumed several hours instead of several minutes. It was honestly like watching a full-length CG film that you happened to interact with. My resistance to Ed Boon’s 2D fighter was waning, but I only gave it passing attention.
Enter Mortal Kombat X (Warner Bros. Interactive, $59.99). Against my better judgment, I signed up to at least deliver some coverage of the long-running fighter. I had no idea what my angle would be, but I certainly wouldn’t be spending 700 words discussing character balance, technicalities, strategies, or digging for moves players could successfully spam in online matches. I’m no button masher, but learning Cassie Cage’s 25+ basic moves and throws, 25 more combos, and another 25 special moves and fatalities is beyond my means. Not to mention each character’s 3 variations which introduce subtle but meaningful shifts in their fighting strategies.
If you can survive THAT, perhaps it should be called "Immortal Kombat?" If you can survive THAT, perhaps it should be called “Immortal Kombat?”
For the record, I find all of that completely awesome, but equally overwhelming. Although I’m thrilled to see that certain “easy fatalities” can be pulled off with 2-button combos.
I found my angle after completing the game’s wholly entertaining story mode. It’s nothing short of a guilty pleasure. It’s replete with fan service, expertly choreographed fight scenes, cheesy and bombastic dialogue, and a 4 hour storyline that spans 25 years full of love, revenge, redemption, and brutality. It’s my summer blockbuster video game. But what I find most satisfying about Mortal Kombat X is how it expertly introduces someone like me to its lore and iconic characters. From brawlers like Johnny Cage (and his daughter Cassie Cage) to supernatural slayers like D’Vorah, to straight up gods like Raiden. Each character feels unique, and it’s exhilarating to pull off their (literally) bone-crushing X-Ray moves and find yourself mastering a handful of combos to finally clinch a battle.
In its campaign alone, Mortal Kombat X gave this solo player some real meat to sink my teeth into (with a fair but challenging difficulty curve), without asking me to become an expert. Hell, if you get frustrated at a particular fight (as I did against Ermac!), you can simply skip it, watch your current opponent fall to the ground, and continue on with the story.
Test Your Luck: Easily the wackiest and most unpredictable way to play. Test Your Luck: Easily the wackiest and most unpredictable way to play.
But Mortal Kombat X has a variety of gameplay challenges and cool experiences beyond the story. You can tackle a multitude of Towers that task you with classic arcade-like progression, or towers that contain wacky modifiers like ice rockets raining down on you, slow movement, and randomly appearing portals. This is my favorite tower type because of the sheer silliness and insanity of it all. “Test Your Might” asks you to destroy an increasingly difficult number of objects before time runs out. Survival and Endless towers call upon your skill to fight off waves of enemies without dying as your health decreases from one match to the next.
For completionists (good luck with that!) there’s the Krypt, a sprawling graveyard where players can spend Koins earned in normal gameplay on unlockables like fatalities and costumes.
And of course, there’s a robust-looking suite of online activities including standard versus matches, rooms where you can chat and set up custom fights, King of the Hill mode, team battles, and more. I haven’t had the chance to journey online yet, but in a way, that’s my point.
The bottom line is this: As someone who’s lacking time and a regular rotation of visiting friends, Mortal Kombat X is a fighter I’m happy to sink my teeth into as a solo player, by virtue of there actually being things to sink my teeth into. I can’t be competitive, but I can enjoy the ridiculous variety of fighting styles and sheer brutality that Mortal Kombat is known for. I genuinely want to explore this cast of characters and at least break the surface of all this variety. For me, that matters.
So apologies if you stumbled onto this review searching for an expert opinion or a blow-by-blow of every character’s strength and weaknesses and whether or not they’re gimped or OP. I needed to publish some impressions for the rest of us, the more casual gamers who just want to know if we’ll be getting $60 worth of fun with Mortal Kombat X. The answer is a resounding yes. It’s a fighter that holds your attention (something games increasingly fail to do these days), delivers an unrelenting assault on your senses, and is blissful eye and ear candy.
PS: Street Fighter and I are now like old friends who’ve grown apart and barely speak to each other, although we may read about each other’s exploits on Facebook. I’m ok with that.

Sony "Nailed It" With PS4 and Deserves "Victory" Over Xbox One, Ex-EA CEO Says
John Riccitiello also criticizes Microsoft for what he called "unfocused execution" of the Xbox One's launch
Former Electronic Arts CEO and current top boss at Unity Technologies, John Riccitiello, has spoken out to say he thinks Sony "f**king nailed it" with the PlayStation 4 and deserves "victory" in the current console race against Microsoft and its Xbox One. Riccitiello made the comments during the GamesBeat Summit. There was a clash of ideas that really separated Sony and Microsoft," Riccitiello said, as reported by GamesBeat. "[The Xbox One and PS4] actually had very similar architecture that they were trying to bring to the table. But Microsoft focused … a lot on entertainment beyond gaming. Microsoft was trying to [compete against] Apple. They didn't feel gaming was big enough to justify the pent-up desire … to have the recognition they wanted as an innovator."
Riccitiello added that Sony, meanwhile, took a "gamer-first" approach with the PS4--something he says paid off. Microsoft's attempt to reach a broader market with its Xbox One TV integration was not necessarily an ill-advised move, but Riccitiello said Microsoft's "unfocused execution" was its downfall.
He used a billiards analogy to sum up the differences, in his mind, between Microsoft and Sony.Sony just said, 'We've made the best f**king game system we could' … partly because they didn't have the resources to do more about it," Riccitiello said. “Microsoft was focused on the shot after the one they needed to make, putting the 7-ball in the corner pocket, but they missed the first shot and didn't get another shot after it."
"Sony focused on the shot they needed to make, which was win the hearts and minds of the gamer. The broader scope of entertainment might be a bigger idea, but not with an unfocused execution," he added. "A tight execution on the 50 million people that matter, which are the people currently lapping up consoles … Sony f**king nailed it, and they deserve the victory."
With more than 22.3 million PS4s sold, Sony's new console is the current leader of the new-generation console race. But as Microsoft has stressed time and again, the sales race is a marathon, not a sprint.
