This could be a stupid question but I'm having trouble finding the answer online. Do people just come out of the womb and speak whatever language their parents speak? For instance if your parents speak Spanish then you speak Spanish? Or if your parents speak English then you speak English? Or is it something they develop over time from being around their parents. For example if let's say two Spanish speaking parents had to go to prison for 4 or 5 years and they left their infant baby with their German speaking next door neighbors until they got out, would the kid grow up and speak Spanish or German from being around the German couple that is raising him until his parents get out of prison to pick him up when he's about 4 or 5?
