I've seen the footage where Michael gets his revenge but it's true it isn't on the DVD trilogy. About 20 years ago the BBC1 in England showed the Godfather in chronological order (obviously without part III) and all the cut scenes were used including Fabrizio's death. Unfortunately I don't know where to get hold of this footage. I wasn't born when it was shown but I've seen it because my father had it on video years ago. I hope this answers your question but sorry I couldn't be of anymore help.

Unless a different version of the chronological GF and II "Saga" was shown in the UK, the scene you saw of Fabrizio's death was not the one that Frank referred to. The deleted scene included in the Saga that you probably remember shows Fabrizio leaving his pizza parlor, getting into a '58 Ford station wagon, and getting blown up. The scene that Frank refers to was filmed but never (to my knowledge) released in any version. As Frank notes, several still photos of that scene were included in Harlan Lebo's "The Godfather Legacy." Michael wears a pearl-gray fedora and overcoat, wields a lupara (supposedly the same one that belonged to Fabrizio in Sicily), and looks more gangster-like than at any other time in the entire Trilogy. I'd give anything to see that scene.

Yes, this always bugged me too, i would much prefer to see Michael get revenge in part one at the end as part of his settling family business. I think him personally sorting out Fabrizio would have been much better than the alternate death of the car bomb, although that did have good connotations as it was the way appolonia died, however would it have really taken 9 years to track him down with all of his connections?? Coppola made a big mistake cutting that scene of one, and seeing the pictures in the book only make it harder
