Fair enough Alfanosgirl, i didn't know you were talking about it's reception upon it's release.

For any Kubrick fans who haven't seen it, you should watch Room 237 . It's basically a bunch of crackpots with too much time on their hands analysing The Shining scene by scene to connect Kubrick to various Conspiracy Theories. Still it's a great look into his movies and all of the small details he left in them.

Oh, Dear God. Too much time on their hands?

That's like saying that Cook County is a little slow on the draw whistle.

Have you watched it PB? I wouldn't blame you if you weren't interested in the full Doc, but here's an article detailing some of the theories with the clips that supposedly point to this. -

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/20...n-room-237.html

It's not just The Shining that's mentioned here, but everything from Killers Kiss to Eyes Wide Shut. The only reason i enjoyed it was the in-depth, HD, shots of Kubricks films as well as the mentions of Kubrick and his associates writings.

Thanks, Cam. I'll check it out. I've only read the Wiki page on Room 237 so far (and I think these people are clinically insane).

Stephen King didn't like The Shining because it wasn't true enough to the source material, and Jack Nicholson's performance was too hammy.

I definitely recall that it wasn't the critical darling you would think it is.

Same with The Shawshank Redemption to an extent. Its myth grew in popularity with repeated viewings and context.

It's not a true story. The Shawshank Redemption is an adaptation of the Stephen King Novella: Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption .

Ha ha! lol

A-Girl when the Exorcist came out, we went to see it. (Scariest movie I've ever seen). At the time, my husband worked nights, and every time at dark, when I passed our spare bedroom, all I could picture is Regan sitting on the bed with her ugly face, creepy voice, and head spinning. For weeks (maybe months) that image freaked me out!! lol

All that being said, I must say I still like scary movies. Go figure!!!

For sure TIS. It was authentically scary. Of course, growing up Catholic, I just knew there was a devil seeking Regan's (and my)soul.

Oli

At that time they had an intermission right after the scene where hypnotized Regan attacks the doctor. In the lobby everyone was lighting up a cig. lol One guy was pacing back & forth and he said to whomever was listening, "this is a hell of a first date movie." lol

I dont know how you can still like scary movies...

I was young when that movie came on TV. I tried to watch it but I was much too scared and had to sleep with my light on for years. panic Plus my Mom told me that if I lie or sin I can become possessed just like the boy from Rome who she said the movie was based on. I became traumatized.
One of my cousins went to see where they filmed a few scenes, I think it was in Virginia. He said it was so eery and evil he will never forget it.

The Daily Mail ran a story on the kid who was apparently the basis for The Exorcist saying: "Roland apparently married, raised children and maintained a long and productive career with the US government before retiring, reportedly to suburban Maryland. He has never spoken publicly about the case."

Then again it's the Daily Mail who has constantly been duped by Ghost Apps, they probably got the story from a homeless guy in London lol . Here's the link- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...possession.html

Has anybody seen Requiem for a Dream, a good but destrubing film about The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island people are shattered when their addictions become stronger.

It's a great movie. Ellen Burstyn's monologue was top notch.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here but you should watch "The Basketball Diaries", another disturbing but great movie

Just saw Interstellar. AMAZING movie. Maybe the best of the year. Definitely Nolan's best. Loved the realism of both the special effects and the science behind it all. Definitely a 2001: A Space Odyssey influence to it.

Rob Zombies Halloween(2007), ive seen it a few times now, its ok.

I really can't stand over the top swearing though in all these newer movies. All this "ill skull fuck you" type insults, it just sounds really cringey.

You can't beat the original Halloween and classic movies, they'd never come away with over the top lines like that.

It's rare when the constant cursing doesn't seem gratuitous. Even "Scarface" was over the top. Two notable exceptions were "Goodfellas" and "Saturday Night Fever." Pitch perfect dialogue in both. I wouldn't change a word in either.

I finally seen Lincoln. Wasn't that bad, wasn't that great. Very dialogue heavy and hard to follow at times.

This was a great scene.

Old is a state of mind.

Old can make you scared to live.

Fuck that that's why I don't like hanging with old people who think & act like that.

I like hanging with old people who in their heads their still young. I think I am someone like that.

Most street guys who are still kicking think like that.

I had a neighbor who was afraid he was going to die he was definately old. He volunteered that information to me. I guess he thought I would under stand because we were around the same age in years.

I told him stop thinking about it stop talking about it.

Go to Vegas buy a show girl and fuck her brains out to either you or her die. If you die let the under takers worry about getting the smile off your face.

He did go away never to return. I hope he kicked off happy.
