They would probably turn in their graves, but that is true of a lot of older generation folks over here. Until the first immigrants started to come in from the West Indies and India after WWII we were a solidly "white" country. A recent poll said that by 2050 whites will be in the minority. Has to be said that not all migrants are evil of course. One of my best pals at work is a Kenyan lad who has lived here for 25 years and he hates muslims more than any white person I know. The main problem most people have here is that we are just too small a country to keep filling it up with people who come here just for benefits and free housing that adds onto our tax bills and increases our retirement age. Our system is abused by these folks and it creates an awful lot of tension. But for every freeloader there are a dozen more who legititmately want to work and have a better life. Where do you draw the line??

Yogi you seem like a decent guy and it's good you can recognize a hard worker regardless of race, but doesn't it make you a bit uncomfortable that by 2050 the native British people will be outnumbered by people who have no understanding of the British way? America has always been a melting pot, and Hispanics are already assimilating quite well, but Europe is naturally homogenous. I can't grasp more people in England praying at Mosques and observing fuckin Ramadan rather than drinking tea and supporting their favorite football teams. It's just unthinkable to me.

Of course I don't like the idea but the UK is a very politically correct place. Even if our country is going down the toilet it would be "terribly impolite" to actually mention it or blame anybody. The "old" immigrants came here legally, worked hard and assimilated. The "new" immigrants want no part of that. They want everything yesterday. The immigration system today is in ruins because they frown upon European immigrants and cater to Middle Easterners and Islanders who hate us anyway.

Immigration should be ceased until it can be put back under control. And then it should only be open to people who are willing to embrace the American way when they get here, not vice versa.

I live in Belgium, which is home to a substantial Moroccan community. I for one don't get caught up in the European immigration panic hype a lot of other people seem to get. I mean, it's clear that immigrants have become very visible in most of the major cities (that is if you can describe any city in Belgium as "major" lol). But demographics show that the indigenous population still has a large overall majority. And that's not only the case with Belgium. While I have read about some of the -in my opinion absurd- doom predicting scenarios, different studies on the other hand have shown that while the amount of people from a non-European background will of course grow a bit, the indigenous population will still be in the vast majority. It really is nothing THAT alarming and far from as terrifying as some (including some wild articles) make it out to be.

Now I want to make clear that I'm not an immigration lover. You know, it's a shame because there's quite an amount of people over here from an immigrant background (including ones from a Muslim one) that I really do get along with. But a certain portion of them is causing trouble. And while the troublemakers are a minority, it's a minority that has become big enough to be a serious nuissance. And that is something that could've been avoided with better immigration policies or (even better) without any immigration at all.

Just my two cents.

This is hilariously untrue, the British pound has consistently had double the worth of the American dollar for almost five years. Even the Euro is a stronger currency than the American dollar and that's been going on for almost two years.
