Yogi, hope you feel better. It's probably muscular, and since our backs have HUGE muscles, when they spasm, the pain is just as big as the muscle!
Heat and lay flat if you can. Muscle relaxers would probably help, and so will anti-inflammatories. My doctor told me that sitting is the worst, as it puts all stress on the lower back. He said that standing is actually preferable.
I pulled my back out when I was in my 20s, lifting my daughter the wrong way. It's not old age, just lifting at a bad angle!

Since some of you have been experiencing back pain I thought I would mention this website to you. A good friend of mine just had back surgery using this less invasive procedure. http://www.basicspine.com/contact/newport-beach.html#axzz3IF3b1s4gThe AXLE® Interspinous Process Spacer (ISPS) system is used to treat degenerative disc disease, spinal tumors and trauma and associated symptoms. Interspinous process devices are designed to distract or open the foramen, where the nerve endings pass away from the center of the spinal region and into the legs. Prior to the AXLE® ISPS the primary options for fusion surgery consisted of the placement of screws and rods into the vertebrae of the spine in combination with a bone graft. Such procedures require deep drilling and four screw holes into the bone of the vertebrae above and below the degenerated disc. This drilling and screw placement can be both painful and invasive. As an alternative to traditional pedicle screw implants, the AXLE® ISPS was developed to be a less invasive procedure to achieve the same results. The AXLE® ISPS stabilizes the spine by gripping onto the surface of vertebrae above and below the degenerated disc and does NOT require drilling. This makes the AXLE® ISPS significantly less invasive than prior procedures. The AXLE® ISPS may be implanted with the patient under a mild sedative and local anesthesia as an out-patient surgery procedure (patient goes home the same day) or under light anesthesia. http://www.basicspine.com/wp-content/upl...ev.-4.14.14.pdfWe also proudly offer stem cell injections, one the most innovative treatments available today. This patented therapy works by injecting ethically harvested stem cells into the spine, which then multiply and work to revitalize tissue in the spine. Stem cell injections are administered in our office. Please contact us for more information on this treatment.

But prescription pain meds have some nasty side effects. Like euphoria and feeling good?
-I shot him a coupla' times. -What's a couple? -Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times? -Maybe fifteen? -Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

After reading about that article on that wannabe gangster and his garage I thought about this story. I was backing up my vehicle and my rear bumper happened to hit the front bumper of this huge Dodge truck that was backed in a parking spot. So being the Angelina I am I left a note with my name and number on the truck's windshield. I got a call later on that day saying that the owner was going to get an estimate for the damage. I said ok that's fine. Being that I worked in the auto industry at the time, my father's a mechanic, his father's a mechanic, his father's father was a mechanic , I knew that you had to REPLACE the whole bumper if it was misaligned you could not Repair it on that type of make and model. So the owner sends me a fax of the estimate. I notice that it is to repair the bumper. Now you may say to yourself so why didn't you tell him what you know...The guy was a total asshole talking down to me and telling me he is only taking it to a certain place that he trusts and does business with. So I say ok I will bring a check for the amount. I drop off the check, it gets cashed and then later on that week I get a call. He tells me that the bumper needs to be replaced. So I told him well I already paid you for what we agreed upon. You gave me the estimate from this place that you do business with and I paid it. We are done here. He got really shitty over the phone. You need to pay me for the job this money isn't enough to cover it. I said Look I already paid so stop bothering me. Well, this jerk off did not stop bothering me. I told him my deductible is only 250 so I really don't give a rat's ass if you call the insurance. That's what he had to do. Now here's the good part. I get a call from my insurance company. I tell them what happened. They find it VERY INTERESTING that he does business with that particular body shop. They investigated the shop and turns out they were scamming customers and insurance companies. The owner of the truck turns out he was in the insurance business. He lost his job and the body shop closed. All because they messed with the WRONG person, little ole ME.

I'm just a couple exits from Yorba Linda in Corona. Funny, I didn't feel it. You got an earthquake kit? Good for you! I keep saying I'm going to but so far I just have a few emergency items aside. Wait, Cortinas? Is that an Italian store? Can you buy cannoli shells there? The only one I know of is Claro's in Tustin, which is where I usually go (at least during holiday season) TIS

The cannoli shells and cream I believe come from Ferrara's in NYC. Cortina's is a gold mine. Claro's is good too. That place would be mobbed during the holidays. Is it still the same? I've never been to the Tustin store. We used to do a lot of business with them years ago when they were in Whittier. They would donate bread and pasta for our Pasta Dinners at the church hall for the ICF Italian Catholic Federation. My Pops was ICF President for years and always was in charge of making the sauce. His was the best.

Oli, We get so many reports of tremors throughout the state. It's not unusual to not be aware of them. I've felt a couple that were very scary. I guess I've gotten use to the small quakes A-Girl What city are you in? We must be practically neighbors. I'm just past the Green River exit, if you are familiar with it. As far as the cannoli goes, I make my own filling. I prefer the ricotta filling to the cream filling. My sister makes her own shells but I never have. Claro's is the closet (only) Italian deli I knew of that had the shells. TIS

You should definitely go to the Cortina's in Anaheim. You will not be disappointed. I'm not a big cannoli fan so I never make or buy them. Cortina's does sell the ricotta filling. I do make struffoli, pizzelle, zeppole and gazadeel (casatella). The Alfanos owned pastry shops so I have some of the family recipes which are about 150 years old. We are PRACTICALLY neighbors. My sis lives over your way so I take the Green River exit all the time. The best time to drive towards Corona is from 10am to 2pm or forget about it, it turns into a parking lot. Sometimes, I drive in the opposite direction get off the 91 west to get on at Tustin going east on the 91 so I can use the fast trac to get off at Green River It's crazy. I am off Weir Canyon in Yorba Linda.

I seldom take 91W except when I do go to Claros or have out of town company and go to L.A. Hollywood/touristy things, and then it's usually with my daughter driving. Plus, I guess the older I get, the less I like to drive freeways, let alone busier than sh*t freeways. Sounds like you are quite the cook/baker. My talent is somewhat limited tho I do have a few of my mom's recipes which were handed down. Plus GREAT memories of my grandmother's cooking. TIS
