Should Mike have let Fredo back in at Ma's funeral, or should he have just left him as he was before her death and just kill him somewhere else? It wouldve made more sense to do that because by letting him in, he had no choice but to kill him on hiw own property which would make it easier for the rest of the family to believe that it was Michael who killed him. If Fredo had been shot in a street somewhere, it couldve made people believe it couldve been anyone because they knew Fredo had been stupid and gotten into business with the wrong people. It just seems that letting him back in wasnt that smart because it made it easier for people to accuse Michael of killing him. I know Fredo maybe died happier because he felt like a part of the family again at the end, but I jus dont think it was smart of Michael.

I think he was trying to follow Vito's advice: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
