Not only were the unions a big moneymaker for the mob, they were probably the main thing that set the LCN apart from every other crime group in the country - past or present. Anyway, the NY families are still involved in labor union racketeering. Their control or influence has been either weakened, if not removed, in many areas but remains in others.
