You did the right thing. You have nothing tying you down in the City or Long Island, the cost of living is peanuts compared to what it is down here, and the solitude is very inviting.

My brother just turned 50 himself. He's a hunter (I'm not, although I have done it), and he has a cabin in Liberty. But he bought it when he was still in his 30's. I've used it before, and I'll say this much, it's nearly impossible to get stressed out up there.

Coincidentally that is where the dinner is tonight (in Liberty). It's only ten minutes away from me but the idea of driving on icy roads scares the shit out of me now.

You're right about the area being wonderful for my lifestyle, though. It's so much more laidback up here.

If it's only going to be an inch or two, I say go for it but don't drink too much. When you fall off a horse and all that . . .

You know those days when you wish you could stay in your pajamas all day long and lounge? It's turning out to be one of those days. It's noon, but it's been looking like 6:00 a.m. all day, dark, gloomy and rainy.

I like listening to the rain tho. We so seldom get any.

Here we go again - another Winter Storm Watch for my area starting Monday night. Could get some heavy snow again on Tuesday.

Snow in the mountains or rain on the Island. ...walkin' in a winter wonderland...

This morning I was down at the ocean/inlet in Atlantic City. The seas were churning, wind was whipping, 6-8ft surf....scary beautiful. Tide was flooding the back streets. Can't mess with mother nature.

The area roads are a skating rink. Iced covered by freezing rain. Numerous reports of accidents and cars sliding off the roads (including police cars). Many roads are closed and a few power outages are being reported already. Still supposed to get 6-12" of snow tonight into tomorrow.

I ain't going out today at all.

Oh you scaredy cat. Get those ice skates out of the closet and slide wherever you wanna go. See, as simple as that.

southern connecticut

It's awful here. Heavy rain and wind. There's coastline flooding by the marina. I haven't seen water so deep in my yard since the hurricanes a few years ago.

Gotta love those Nor'easters. Some flooding on the Jersey coast. Drying out today. The high tides made things worse.
