Some even say Gambino was behind the hit.
-I shot him a coupla' times. -What's a couple? -Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times? -Maybe fifteen? -Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

So did any of you become a member in the Italian American civil rights league I did? I was also a member of the Playboy club The organization did help poor Italians with things like rent and to keep the electricity on. Hey the blacks have Al Sharpton. Why not the Italians have Joe Columbo.

I think for the most part it was a front. Of course he hired guys and civilians to make it look legit, probably even gave some money away within the Italian communities. But I think he just did it for the most part, to appear like a legit businessman, to garner sympathy from people so that they'll believe the image he's trying to portray, and to stick it to the Feds. I remember hearing once, that he thought that if he made an organization and decided to go against the Feds, they wouldn't be able to investigate him. It worked for a while, as they were scared to investigate him because he was quick to call it discrimination, with the surveillance and stuff, and he'd get attention for that stuff and it'd be all in the papers, and blemish the Fed's reputation. They feared him and that Civil Rights league for a little bit.

Thats like asking whether Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson ever "believed". These guys are all extortions.
Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison. I've read the RICO Act, and I can tell you it's more appropriate... for some of those guys over in Washington than it is for me or any of my fellas here

That's when they should of got rid of him. I agree he disobeyed his boss and ratted on his boss. Don Carlo was a master strategist used it to gain control of another family be keeping Colombo as boss. From what I've heard Don Carlo had been trying for years by supporting Gallos and Colombo just brought it to his door step. Profaci family members of that time woulda took anyone as boss who wasn't Profaci or an extension of his rule. Profaci and his UB when he took over were bleeding their family dry and all money went all the way to top.
