well mark, the Cleveland situation is worse, they had a chance for a good season, but, decided to start the bumpkin. now, after he stunk up the joint they are going to start johnny "the bumpkin" again. at least the bears will be up again in a year or two, Cleveland staked their whole franchise on this johnny clown.

Binnie..don't give up yet, it was only his first start. I know he had a ton of hype but so did Bradshaw and Elway, etc. and they all performed poorly, but ended up pretty well...let's give him the benefit of the doubt...for awhile anyway yeah, really. let's see what he does the rest of the year. but, the hype they gave this guy bothers me, Andrew luck never had that hype, Russell Wilson either. but, you are right, lets see what he does sunday.

That's a completely inaccurate statement. The Browns organization is not staked to Manziel. They have a 2 rookie RBs, a WR druggie who has been suspended twice in two years, and are on their 4th center of the season. Their defense has been decimated by injuries. Expecting a rookie QB to succeed in that type of scenario is idiotic. I live in Cleveland and have followed the team for decades. Manziel was named the starter in the 15th week of the season. The head coach resisted putting Manziel in as long as possible because he knew Manziel was not ready. In fact, Manziel was not nameduntil they deemed themselves to be out of the playoff race at 7-6 in an extremely competitive division. Furthermore, Manziel was named only after Hoyer played himself out of the starting role and Hoyer's confidence had eroded to nothing. Manziel, to a large degree, is a media hype player. He's a lightning rod and is the biggest NFL hype since Tebow. The Browns owner forced the GM to draft Manziel. Both the GM and head coach had concerns about Manziel's maturity and size. And by the way Manziel's first start went, those concerns appear to be very justified. Manziel does himself no favors with his brashness and his reported poor prepration habits. Running QBs were supposed to be the next big thing 2-3 years ago. Now look at the running QBs like Griffin, Colin K., and Vick. They're yesterday's news. Only Russell Wilson is having success as a running QB, but it's because he can also stand in the pocket and he has one of the league's best RBs. The pocket passers like Luck, Manning, Brees, and Brady may not be all flash, but they're the only type of QB that has consistenly won in the NFL.

yes, I understand what you mean by manziel being a lighting rod, however I think we will see him be a negative influence for the team.
it's a team game, and, I don't think he knows what that means, and I share the head coaches concern about his size. I guess we will just have to wait and see. oh, and by the way Andrew luck has some success running as does kappernicht In S.F.

At least we got the Hawks Mark Nicky! Amen to that. I hear Crawford might be back this weekend. I know our Bears are having a terrible season but I still 'em! About time! Someone was a little too drunk at a concert and fell . You know Quenneville was pissed at him for that!

Look, Manziel may turn out to be a good QB. But as far as any of us can tell right now, it doesn't seem like it he will. I think he is another Tim Tebow.
If Pettine determined that the Browns would not make the playoffs, then I wouldn't object to his inserting Manziel as QB to test his skills and provide him with experience. However, if Pettine did think that the Browns could make the playoffs and he was simply frustrated with Hoyer's on-field problems, then I disagree. Under that circumstance, Hoyer should have remained as the Brown's QB. I think the same as you, if he thought he had a shot at the playoffs, and used manziel, then he failed. of course, it remains to be seen, but, I just can't see him as a nfl QB. and I don't think the team wanted him to start.

He came off as a spoiled rich kid in college and has done nothing to quell that image since being drafted in May. While Luck can move, he's still a pocket passer. And Kaepernick is a runner, but he's another mobile QB whose team is not getting better because of him. He's actually regressed this year. We'll see how he gets along with the next coach once Harbaugh leaves.

yeah, goombah, but what has harbaugh done to get fired? hey, good game coming up, dallas vs Indianapolis, im taking indy even though dallas has the best runner, and receiver In the NFL [ think DeMarco murray, and dez Bryant] I still think romo is a choker.

Oli, I think you're being a bit tough on Johnny Football...its true that he's been hyped to death, but the guy is only one game deep into his NFL career....he may end up being a bust, but I think its too early to say one way or the other...I, personally, am cheering for him to succeed, so that Cleveland is capable of being a rival....to anyone

I never said Harbaugh deserved to be fired. He has obviously ticked off the SF front office. Not sure why they think they'll get a replacement of Harbaugh's caliber. I think he rubs someone the wrong way. He'd be a fool to go back to college and have to recruit.

well, I think he's a good coach, and you are right, if he goes back to college ball, it would not be good for him. watching s.f. vs S.D. right now, kapernicht just ran for a 90 yd td. the niners are playing great.

[quote=jipjones]O ya and I forgot to Mention its now 15 years since my BUFFALO BILLS made the playoffs [/quote
your bills are going to have a good year next year, they are a team on the move, and next year you will see them in the playoffs. the seahawks are peaking at the right time, the cowboys looked good today, abd could be trouble, although I still think romo is a choker.
about johnny football, too much hype, don't think those defensive lineman aren't above giving him a good ole nfl ass kicking, he was and is a good college qb. but, he doesn't have the right stuff to play with the big boys. this isn't college.

Well, my Steelers made it into the playoffs after 2 years out. If they beat the Bengals, they win the division and a bye. 6 sacks and no Chiefs TDs. your steelers could surprise you, they have been in more super bowls than any other team, and won more. I look for them to give brady and co, a real tough time of it.

well, johnny football just got a good ole fashioned nfl hit. and never finished the game. went out before the first quarter ended. johnny manzeil is a washout. he can't take it in this league. The story going around here is different. Manziel didn't exit the game because of the hit he took, which at first looked like a concussion. The guys calling the game on TV said it was a hamstring injury. Some in the Cleveland media are calling bullshit on the hamstring since it's much tougher injury to measure. They are saying that the Browns had seen enough and pulled the plug on Manziel. Either way, Manziel is on pace to play himself out of the league faster than Tebow. thanks for the good info goombah, its' sad about manzeil, but it's a tough league.

The Cowboys, Seahawks, Packers, and Cardinals are NFC teams going to the playoffs. In the AFC the Steelers are going. If the Steelers make it to the Superbowl, they will be the only AFC team that will be participating in a rematch regardless of which of those NFC teams makes it to the Superbowl. yes, that;s an interesting fact. and to tell you the truth I would not be surprised to see Pittsburgh in another superbowl. a second matchup with seattle would be a great game.

Thank God the Giants season is over. Big changes are needed. 1, Tom Coughlin should retire. 2, Perry Fewell, good bye. 3. The West Coast offensive, good bye. What is it? All the running plays are inside the tackles...boring...doesn't work. 4. Draft Eli's replacement. His time is past. Great wins as QB, Super Bowls, but...sorry Eli, you don't have it anymore. You and Peyton can make commercials. 5. They have the making of a great offense; Beckhnam, Cruz, Randle, Donnell, Williams. Find a QB. The O-line will improve. 6. Draft D-line, LBs, CBs, S.
Eagles fans are a bunch of whiners. Hate the Cowboys, but they are "Americas Team" and they do bring in the fans.

your post is right on about the giants, but coughlin will stay, and if they took your advise about the rest of it they would improve, good analysis.
I hate the cowboys with a passion, its not romo that is making that team go. its DeMarco murray, and dez Bryant, I still think romo is a choker.
