The comment about the gay bar seems a little far-fetched. There are plenty of gay clubs in Philadelphia; hell, there is a section called the "gayborhood" around Jefferson Hospital. It's difficult to believe that anyone in Philly would need to go to NY for permission to open a gay bar, unless that bar is in NYC.
