Carmine and Anthony were close,They would spend time together in the city . Carmine and Joyce would have Anthony and his wife to there upstate estate.

They would spend a few days together, many times. Anthony liked it so much that he purchased one for his mother and father,That was very similar and in the same area.

Carmine had a nice gun range up there and they were both good shots.

Didnt know that Carmine and Casso were that close..?Remmember reading that he he was real good with some of the mobsters from Bhurst like Anthony Spero,Scarpa and DeCicco. But,they lived on the same block so its logical.
This one guy that is mentioned Sally Calinbrano, his godfather never shows up on any chart or online stories.Suposedly he took over the docks afte Anastasia died in 1964.Guess Carlo wrote a little bit of fiction, cus nobody knows who this guy was.

100 percent Belmont..Union street betwen 4th and 5th ave Park slope. In every source there is it says Park slope.Anyway Carrol gardens is one block from Park slope,so its not a big deferance.Manganos famous Democrat club was two doors down frpm Casso also on union street, his father Michael went there all the time.He had older brother born 1936 and an older sister born 1939.

Doubt it. He was a dockworker connected to the Genovese family, I think, at least according to the book. Apparently he was respected and the original "Gaspipe" nickname was his.

Wow thanks a lot, I've been really looking forward to the full interview... I guess this pretty much includes most main points of the interview, and what's best is that it's in really good quality, almost HD.. you can see in detail that Casso was nowhere near as good-looking as that maniac Carlo claimed. lol

I could'nt help but notice how the prosecutor said Casso made false accusations about other government witness's. No doubt it has to do with Gravano. I really think the feds were afraid that whatever Casso said on the stand could potentially be used as a basis of appeal for the Gotti conviction.

I agree 100%. Casso's testimony would have/ could have been used by Gotti's lawyers to overturn his conviction based on Casso contradicting Gravano's testimony. Casso' s infractions were minor and are usually overlooked. The feds were looking for a way out. Kind of like that hot girl we all dated and they looked for an argument so they could break up.

I'd mentioned that on another forum when the question was raised what caused the FBI to renege on Casso's deal. Most people said it was because he was still committing crimes while in jail, and bribing guards and prison officials for better food, commissary, jail luxuries, and just overall special treatment. Sal Miciotta claimed Casso was trying to run the jail and still be the Mob boss even after turning informant, he says he had his own little crew of rats, and he had guards handcuff him to the shower while Casso laid in on Big Sal. He also supposedly plotted to kill a judge, but I definitely think him telling the truth about Gravano being a major player in drugs, and he himself being responsible for some of the murders Gotti got convicted for, which contradicted Gravano's testimony, destroyed his and the Bureau's credibility, and gave chance for Gotti to actually get out of prison some day, contributed majorly to them taking his deal away. The feds couldn't risk them being proved wrong on letting Gravano walk, they didn't want to lose their star mob witness or believe that he lied to them. Shame Casso has to spend the rest of his life in prison for simply being honest, in that regard. He deserves to be there, but he should be there because he got convicted and sentenced and that be that. He shouldn't be in there for telling the truth about one of their informants, and them wanting to be in denial and reneging on his deal as a way of keeping the truth from getting out. Real shame because he was proven to be right a couple of years later anyway, knowing he was right all along, and the FBI still not giving him what was agreed upon must wreck his mind.

But he's a sociopath, so it's hard to feel really sorry for him.

Sinatra, I agree completely. Watch the video and look at that attorney/prosecutor woman, you can tell she's at LEAST as psychotic as Casso. Gaspipe was just a psychotic gangster, but these government men, their hypocrisy reaches a whole new level.

I'm sure the thing with Gravano and Gotti is the only reason they screwed Casso out of the deal... not that he doesn't deserve to die in prison, but a deal is a deal.

But who knows maybe it's better this way... if I had any doubts about Gravano, with Casso I'm 100% sure that he'd go right back to a life of crime after getting out, he seems exactly like the type who doesn't know how to do ANY other thing.

Did Gotti's legal team try to make an appeal based on Casso's testimony?

In addition to the drug thing, Casso told the judge in his letter that he had met with Gravano to discuss an attack on Al Sharpton on a day Gravano was very clearly in jail. He was useless as a cooperating witness anyways, but that destroyed him.

As far as Gravano's credibility, it was a major point of Gotti and Locascio's 1993 appeal (not due to Casso, but due to other crimes indicated by Alphonse D'Arco), in which the appellate court reaffirmed the original ruling. They couldn't have made a second appeal on the same point of law. The jury already knew that he had murdered 19 people. they already knew he had pleaded guilty for leniency, and yet they still chose to believe him.

Gotti would of been convicted without Gravano. His own words said he was the leader of an organized crime family and he also went into detail about murders he ordered . He was dead no matter what.
Having Gravano cooperate was historically symbolic and sent a message that you can cooperate against the most powerful mobster in the world and live to tell about it.
The feds also learned a lot from Gravano for future cases.
For Casso, the feds used him and decided they didnt need him anymore. It was a risk/reward type thing. That said, the feds were wrong and broke their promise based on trivial infractions. The feds should be held to much higher standards. Once you shake hands with the devil, you have to play with the devil.

Here is a question for anybody that has read the book about Casso by Carlo. How did he get in touch with Furnari?
It says online that while he was on the lam from the shooting of that drug addict on 5th ave he meat Furnari. It dosent say how.Furnari was from Dyker heights, and Casso was under some Genovese guy,and as far as i know there were no Lucchese by the docks.
Thanks.

He is wearing the same glasses he was arrested wearing! What year was this interview? His skin looks rough! Acne scars or maybe the shotgun blast marks from the failed hit!

I think he was hit in the shoulder, not face, by Hydell and friends that time.

The Carlo book mentioned something about acne scars, so it's probably that.

But he did get mercilessly beaten by Sal Miciotta in prison so that could have done the damage either.

Quite telling that Casso & Amuso both caught severe beatings once they started to throw their weight around inside a prison environment - though it's somewhat admirable that they had the balls to mouth off at guys twice their size.
