Michael "Dutchie" Avicolli was killed under mysterious circumstances in 96 I believe. His body has never been found. When Ralph Natale flipped he said he was killed for messing with another guys wife, you hear very little about this murder.

John James Simone, aka "Johnny Keyes," age 69, lived on Drexel Rd., Yardley, Pa. On the morning of Sept. 19, 1980, Simone's body was found by two sanitation workers near a landfill in an isolated wooded area on Staten Island, N. Y. An autopsy showed he had been shot three times in the back of the head. Simone's body was clothed, but his socks and shoes were missing. Police believe that Simone was lured to his death sometime around midnight on Sept. 18, 1980. They said he apparently had been killed elsewhere and his body dumped from a car. Simone was Bruno's cousin, and was very close to the former don, both socially and in business ventures.

Frank Gaetano Sindoneage 52, lived on Schley St. At about 1:20 a.m. Oct. 30,1980, the body of Sindone, principal loanshark for the Philadelphia family, was found dumped behind a variety store in South Philadelphia. He too had been shot three times in the head. The body was bound with rope, his hands tied behind his back and stuffed inside two plastic garbage bags. One bag had been pulled over his head the other up over his legs. A few hours later police located Sindones car, wiped clean of fingerprints, parked near Frank's Cabana Steaks, a business Sindone owned.

John J. McCullough, age 60, lived on Foster St., Philadelphia. McCullough, president of Roofers Union Local 30, was gunned down on December 16, 1980. Six .22 caliber bullets, fired at point blank range by an individual posing as a flower delivery man, penetrated into his face and left side of his head as he stood in the kitchen of his Philly home with his wife standing right there. The gunman fled in a white van.

On July 1, 1982, Willard E. Moran, 32, of Gloucester Township, NJ, was convicted of first degree murder in McCullough's death. A jury recommended the death penalty. Howard Dale Young, 29, of Brooklawn, NJ, pled guilty to a third-degree murder charge in connection with the union boss' killing. On Sept. 9, 1982, Albert Daidone, vice president of Local 54, Bartenders International Union, Atlantic City, NJ, and organized crime figure Raymond Martorano were charged with murder and conspiracy in connection with McCullough's death. According to the F.B.I., Moran contended he killed the union boss on orders from the two men. McCullough was a close associate of Bruno's and is alleged to have served as a representative for Bruno's labor interests in Atlantic City.

Frank R. Stillitano, aka Frankie Stale, age 30, Trenton,
NJ. On Feb. 26, 1981, Stillitano's body was found locked in the trunk of a car in a parking garage at Philadelphia International Airport. It is believed that he had been killed about 12 days earlier. He sustained two .38-caliber bullet wounds, one behind the left ear, one in the leg. Law enforcement officials believe that Stillitano may have been killed in retaliation for a 1978 organized crime related murder in which he was a suspect.

Philip Charles Testa, aka "Chicken Man," age 56, lived on Porter St., Philadelphia, Bruno's successor as boss of the Philadelphia LCN family. Testa died at 4:15 a.m. on March 15, 1981, in a Philadelphia hospital. The explosion that ripped through his body caused extensive damage to his residence and rocked homes and businesses within a 12-block area. There were no other injuries. Theories as to motive at the time of death vary. Some felt he was killed by Pagan motorcycle gang members, others that he was assassinated because he had ordered McCullough's murder. On June 10, 1982, Theodore "Teddy" DiPretoro, 21, of South Philadelphia, was arrested on charges of making and planting the bomb that killed Testa, and later with murder. In his statement to police, DiPretoro said that the remote controlled bomb was actually detonated by Rocco Marinucci, found dead exactly one year after Testa's death with three, large unexploded firecrackers stuffed in his mouth.

Anthony Bonaventura,aka Anthony Louis Venuti, age 28, lived on South 23rd St., Philadelphia. Bound with sash cord, Bonaventura's body was found in a wooded area of Gladwyne, Pa., a posh Philadelphia suburb, on March 22,1981. He had been shot in the head and body. Police believe he was killed on or about March 18. Bonaventura was last seen on March 15, 1981 (the date Testa died), when he rented a car at Philadelphia International Airport. The car was found abandoned in Gloucester City, NJ, on March 19, 1981. There were blood stains on the front seat and it appeared as if someone had tried to torch the vehicle.

On Dec. 8, 1981, Carmen Joseph D'Amato, 30, of Philadelphia, was arrested in Ohio and charged with Bonaventura's murder. In his statement to Ohio authorities, D'Amato admitted killing Bonaventura. Sources said the killing was allegedly drug-related. After being returned to Philadelphia, D'Amato recanted his confession and was ordered to stand trial in July of 1982. On July 30, 1982, the jury stated it was "hopelessly" deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial.

Harry Peetros, age 53, lived on Foss Ave., Drexel Hill, Pa. Peetros' body was found at approximately 4 a.m. on May 25,1981, in the trunk of his abandoned automobile in East Lansdowne, another Philadelphia suburb. He had been shot twice in the chest and once in the head with a .38-caliber revolver.
Peetros was a well-known loanshark who always carried a considerable amount of cash and wore a six-to-eight karat diamond ring estimated to be worth $50,000. No money or identification was found on the body and the ring was missing.

Two men, Barry A. Saltzburg, 35, of Yardley, Pa., and Martin E. Sarkisian, aka Marty Serro, 49, of Upper Darby, Pa., were arrested in connection with Peetros' death. Sarkisian pled guilty to third degree murder. On Oct. 20, 1981, a jury acquitted Saltzburg on the murder charges. But it convicted him of robbery and conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced on Feb. 19, 1982, to serve five to 10 years in prison and was ordered by the court to repay Peetros' estate for the diamond ring which had been removed from the corpse.

Chelsais Bouras, aka Steve Bouras or Booras, age 50, lived on Magee St., Philadelphia. Bouras was gunned down in a South Philadelphia Greek restaurant on May 27,1981. He was seated at a table with eight other persons, including LCN member Raymond "Long John" Martorano and Philadelphia disc jockey Jerry Blavat, when two gunmen entered the room. One gunman held the door open and fired his .38-caliber revolver into the ceiling, while his companion, armed with a .22-caliber revolver, asked Martorano, Blavat and the others to move away. The gunmen then opened fire from a range of three feet or less, striking Bouras four times in the head. He died shortly before 11:30 p.m. in a hospital. Bouras' woman companion also was shot once in the head and died at 10:07 p.m. It appears she was hit by mistake. Bouras was a known loanshark.

On May 1, 1982, Neil Farber, 36, of northeast Philadelphia, arrested in June of 1981 in connection with the shooting, was convicted of first degree murder. The jury recommended the death sentence.

John R. Calabrese, age 45, lived on Wartman St., Philadelphia. Calabrese died on Oct. 6, 1981, from two gunshot wounds in the head and three in the chest. He had just left Cous' Little Italy restaurant when he was approached from behind by two gunmen wearing ski masks who opened fire. A short distance away, police found a .357-caliber revolver and another handgun which has been dropped, along with ski masks and gloves. Calabrese, whose record included 38 prior arrests, was scheduled to stand trial on Oct. 19, 1981, in federal court in NJ for allegedly ordering the 1976 slaying of Idol A. Naccarato. According to the indictment, Calabrese and two other men paid $10,000 to have Naccarato killed. Another federal grand jury in NJ had indicted Calabrese and six others in August of 1981 on charges they were part of an interstate crime ring dealing in arson, robbery and theft.



Frank Thomas Narducci, aka "Chickie," age 49, lived on South Broad St., Philadelphia. Narducci was found dead on Jan. 7, 1982, his body discovered at approximately 5:45 p.m. next to his car on a South Philadelphia street near his home. He had been shot six times in the back, once in the left side of his face, once in the chest and once in the left wrist. A tenth shot was lodged in his clothing. Gunpowder burns on the body and clothing indicated he had been shot at point-plank range. Investigators believe there were two assailants, both armed with .38-caliber revolvers. Narducci's killing occurred on the fourth day of jury selection in a federal racketeering trial in which he and seven other local organized crime figures were defendants. Narducci was out on $25,000 bail awaiting a ruling on motions filed after his conviction on bribery charges in April of 1981. He had not yet been sentenced in that case. Narducci was heavily involved in the family's gambling operations.

Vincent Panetta, aka "Tippy",, age 60, lived on Township Line Road, Cheltenham, Pa. Panetta's body and that of his 19 year old girlfriend, Michelle A. Podraza, were found in the bedroom of their apartment in Cheltenham, Pa., shortly before 4 p.m. on Feb. 4, 1982. The hands and ankles of both victims had been bound. Podraza's body, only partially clad, was found lying across the bed. Panetta's fully clothed body was found on the floor. An autopsy disclosed that both victims had been severely beaten and died of strangulation. It was not determined exactly when the slayings took place, although it is estimated that they had been dead for 24 to 48 hours. Panetta was convicted in 1976 by a federal jury in Philadelphia on RICO charges and for conspiracy in connection with the illegal lending of money at interest rates as high as 179 percent. Panetta's criminal record and his reputed involvement in the loansharking operations of the late Philip Testa and Frank Sindone promoted speculation that the killings were linked to organized crime.

Domenick Anthony DeVito,aka "Mickey Diamond," age 50, Philadelphia. DeVito's body was found shortly before 2 p.m. on Feb. 25, 1982, in the trunk of a car parked at 9th and Bainbridge Streets in Philadelphia. He was lying on his side, his hands and feet tied behind him. The body was wrapped in plastic trash bags and securely tied with twine. Initial autopsy results indicated that DeVito had been struck by three bullets, possibly from a .38-caliber handgun. Police had received a missing persons report on DeVito on the day before his body was found. The report filed by his girlfriend, stated that DeVito had left home at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22, 1982, to go to an Audubon, NJ pizza shop for a business meeting. Investigators characterized DeVito as a heavy gambler, who was frequently in debt.

Rocco Marinucci, age 30, lived on Dickinson St., Philadelphia. Marinucci's body was found at 2:39 p.m. on March 15, 1982, in a parking lot in the 1500 block of South 8th Street in South Philadelphia. He had received multiple gunshot wounds in the chest, neck and face. His hands were bound in front of him with clothesline. Stuffed in his mouth were three large unexploded firecrackers. The body had been partially placed into a plastic trash bag and was covered with a brown and white floral print bedspread and a gold carpet. Marinucci, a South Philadelphia pizza shop operator, had a record of four arrests since 1971, including one in 1973 for assault. He had just been indicted in February of 1982 on a weapons charge. Marinucci, who occasionally acted as a chauffeur for Peter F. Casella, was a prime suspect in the 1981 bombing death of Philip Testa. In June of 1982, Theodore DiPretoro, arrested for Testa's murder, alleged that Marinucci was the person who actually detonated the bomb. Police sources say Marinucci's murder was in retaliation for the Testa slaying.

Frank John Monte, age 49, lived on Meadowlark Place, Philadelphia. Monte was gunned down at approximately 9:35 p.m. on May 13, 1982, outside a southwest Philadelphia service station. When found, he was in a semi-conscious state suffering from a total of five gunshot wounds in the back, left hand, right arm, left eyebrow and upper left arm from a small caliber revolver, possibly a .22. The shots had apparently been fired from close range. Monte was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m. Police ruled out robbery as a motive since more than $600 in cash was found in his pockets.

Also Victor DeLuca (associate) , age 42, lived on Doral St., Philadelphia was wounded on Feb. 26, 1981. As DeLuca and a companion, Joseph Pedulla, were leaving a parking lot at 8th and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia on the afternoon of Feb. 26,1981, two men forced their way into the rear of DeLuca's automobile. According to DeLuca, one of the men placed a hard object against my head and told me, "Don't turn around" Deluca said he drove until he had to stop for a traffic light, then jumped out of the car and ran up the street towards two police officers. Deluca said he heard a gunshot and was struck in the left shoulder, receiving a slight wound. He stated he never saw his assailant.
