Marvel's Daredevil, or simply Daredevil, is an upcoming American web television series developed for Netflix by Drew Goddard, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise.

The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, a lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night. It is the first in a series of shows that will lead up to a Defenders crossover miniseries, and is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with Steven S. DeKnight serving as showrunner, and Goddard acting as consultant.

All episodes are set to premiere in May 2015.

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil:

A blind lawyer who becomes the hero Daredevil.[8] DeKnight stated that "He’s not super strong. He’s not invulnerable. In every aspect, he’s a man that’s just pushed himself to the limits, he just has senses that are better than a normal human's. He is human." On the character's "grey" morals, he said, "He’s a lawyer by day, and he’s taken this oath. But every night he breaks that oath, and goes out and does very violent things... I really liked the flawed heroes, the human heroes."[1] The idea of casting Cox as Daredevil came from Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada in 2012, before Marvel Studios gained the rights to the character from 20th Century Fox.[9]
On playing the character, Cox said, "There are so many aspects. There’s the blindness and physicality. Making a show is about human emotion, conflict and turmoil. When meeting a man who’s a lawyer by day and believes in law and justice and then a man by night is someone who takes the law into his own hands. He deals with battles dealing with that concept."[10] Elaborating on the difficulties of playing the character, Cox said, "I put on a shirt but I can't look where the buttons are, because Daredevil wouldn't know where the buttons are, but I also can't fumble."[11] Cox later explained that, unlike the comic book character, his version of Daredevil would not be a "man without fear", saying "Someone who does not have fear — literally does not experience fear — is not that interesting. The way I like to think about it is that he is a man with fear, but he on a daily basis decides to confront that fear and to overcome it. So the title of ‘the man without fear’ is almost a title that the public in his world gives him just because of what he does. But inside himself, he’s very afraid at times. And he finds a way to confront those fears and punch through it."[12]

Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page:
An enigmatic young woman whose quest for justice sends her crashing into Murdock's life.[13] On creating the character of Karen Page, after portraying Jessica Hamby in True Blood from 2008–14, Woll said, "I'm already starting to notice huge differences between the two characters... I can feel myself go, "Oh, if this was Jessica she would do this," but wanting to kind of steer differently than that. It's always going to be me in some way. I think, as an actor, that's part of it."[14]

Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson: Murdock's close friend and law partner.[15]

Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna: An art gallery employee and Wilson Fisk's love interest.[16][17]

Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple: A nurse that works at night who helps Murdock.[17][18]

Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin:
A powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with Murdock and Daredevil.[19][20] D'Onofrio stated he hoped his portrayal of Fisk was a new way to look at the character, and that it would be the definitive portrayal of the character.[21] "Our Fisk, he's a child and he's a monster," D'Onofrio said. "Every move that he makes and everything that he does in our story comes from his foundation of morality inside himself."[22] In December 2014, DeKnight detailed that "Fisk has very many different aspects so it’s not all, ‘I want to conquer the city and make a lot of money.’ In our story, we tell the story of how he met his wife Vanessa and how they fell in love — our antagonist actually has a love story. That’s the love story you’re following, the one you’re invested in, and seeing how that affects him and changes him." He also said that "if you’re looking for a juicy, multi-faceted crime drama, Wilson Fisk was the obvious choice to play the antagonist ... [he] really felt like the right yin to the yang for Matt, and for what we wanted to do this season."[12]

Recurring
Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich: An investigative journalist for the New York Bulletin.[17][16]
Scott Glenn as Stick: A mysterious martial artist and Murdock's mentor.[23]
Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley.[17][18]
Toby Leonard Moore as Wesley: Fisk's right hand man.[17][16]
Peter Shinkoda as Hachiro

Hopefully they don't mess this up, cause that 2003 film was a complete waste

I'm interested to see what the new Fisk will be like. Not to take anything away from Michael Clarke Duncan, but it seems he will have more sides than the physically intimidating crime lord portrayed in the movie.

"What are you cacklin' hens cluckin' about?!?!"

"Is that him?!? With the sombrero on?!?"

Just finished season 1. Very good show. Mainly because it's a Netflix original.

Did you see avengers : age of ultron ?

Thunderbolts was announced , hope they make this, most of these comics are better off in tv series formats, 1/2 hours is too short , to do them,

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been publicly plotted out through 2019, much less is known about their plans for the television side of their productions. This past April, Daredevil (Netflix) surprised both fans and critics with its level of quality and it instantaneously legitimized the partnership between Marvel Studios and Netflix. Marvel has been open in their intentions for the near future with the company, however it seems that their plans may be more long reaching than most were anticipating.

According to a new report by That Hashtag Show, Marvel has identified Phase 2 of their filmmaking cycle with Netflix and are contemplating developing a Thunderbolts show to debut during it.

The Thunderbolts is a superteam that is made up of Marvel villains and antiheroes who claim to have been reformed. Their origin story had one of the biggest twists in comic book history and while it couldn't be replicated, there are a wealth of stories that could be told. Here are a few reasons why Marvel developing a Thunderbolts show for Netflix needs to happen.

Thunderbolts' Huge Roster

While the Thunderbolts' history is less than 20 years old, a huge collection of villains and heroes have served on the team. The original leader of the team was Baron Zemo, who fans will be introduced to next summer in Captain America: Civil War when Daniel Brühl brings him to life. We have previously reported that Marvel is already searching for the ideal Norman Osborn for the Spider-Man franchise. In the comics, Osborn ends up leading the Thunderbolts. Getting a film actor willing to cross over to Netflix would take the series and MCU to even greater heights.

However, even without Zemo or Osborn, there is a wide range of possible lineups available for writers to play with. Other present and future MCU characters that have been Thunderbolts include Crossbones, Mister Hyde, Red Hulk, Luke Cage, Bullseye, Elektra, Punisher, even Avengers such as Hawkeye and Black Widow. So it is clear how the Thunderbolts' show could benefit from its wide range of connections, throughout the cinematic universe.

Gives Characters Some Breathing Room

It has been no secret that one of Marvel's biggest areas of criticism has been their inability to craft believable and compelling villains. Aside from Loki, and arguably Ultron, the heroes have gotten the lion's share of character development in the MCU. The only other villain that was able to break out of the mold was Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin in Daredevil. Of course that's because the character had the opportunity to develop over a season, including an entire episode that primarily featured him. Getting 13 episodes to give more backstory and motivations for many of the characters who have already appeared in movies, will ultimately only strengthen the Marvel cinematic universe.

Thunderbolts vs. Suicide Squad

What a difference a year makes. Last year WB/DC was seen as the Washington Generals to Marvel Studios' Harlem Globetrotters, born to lose in superhero movie competition. However, with the reveal trailers of both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad at San Diego Comic Con, WB has balanced the scales and Marvel has to be paying attention to its rival now. The Thunderbolts could be Marvel's answer to the Suicide Squad, a team of anti-heroes who are able to go on a self-contained mature adventure, while simultaneously bolstering the given cinematic universe. While they would be screened on different mediums, their impact could be equally as profound.

Marvel/Netflix Phase 2
Marvel + Netflix: A collaboration born in heaven
Marvel + Netflix: A collaboration born in heaven
There has been a lot of talk about Marvel Studios' strategy of breaking up their filmmaking schedule into "phases." The final post-credits scene of Ant-Man signaled the formal beginning of Marvel's Phase 3. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming slate of films including Black Panther, Captain Marvel, The Avengers: Infinity War and more. The first phase of Marvel and Netflix's partnership was mapped out early, with plans for solo series' for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, and a Defenders team-up series. However, Marvel was caught slightly off-guard with the success of the first season of Daredevil, which is already filming its second season. A season which will include multiple costumed heroes, anti-heroes, and villains, including Elektra and the Punisher, expanding the grounded world that was already established.

It looks as if the second phase of Marvel/Netflix's production will get much more fantastic. Although most of the members of the Thunderbolts are generally the more grounded (often literally) characters from the comics, it is clear that there will be a sense of superpowered escalation in the Netflix world. By this point, aside from parts of Iron Fist, all of the shows will have centered in and around New York's Hell's Kitchen. It is presumable that the canvas would need to be expanded in order to necessitate a group like the Thunderbolts. Not to mention, the state of the MCU will be in at a very different point by that time. The Infinity War may be over and the Thunderbolts could be connected to another new overarching MCU storyline. We will be sure to bring you all the latest info as it is uncovered
