Minnie Minoso, 7 time allstar outfielder with the Indians and White Sox, has died at 90. Besides being among the pioneering generation of black and Latin stars in the majors, Minoso was an all around player who could beat you with his glove, bat, or legs. Ernie Banks and Minnie Minoso, only about a month apart. Sad year for Chicago baseball so far.

Daniel Von Bargen passed away a few days ago.
Poor guy.. That diabetes is terrible in the late stage. He was great as George's boss on "Seinfeld."

British author Sir Terry Pratchett has died at age 66. Probably one of the most unique fantasy authors ever (IMO), he wrote more than 70 novels, including the popular Discworld series. I remember Beatles first American appearance on Ed Sullivan show, showing close-up of John with caption, "Sorry girls he's married." So do I. Hard to believe that was 51 years ago.  Actor Robert Z'Dar has died at age 64, while in Pensacola, Florida for an appearance at a convention. He starred in the "Maniac Cop" films, appeared in "Mobsters", "Tango and Cash" and many other films.  R.I.P. Signor V.

It's ironic that the best looking guy in The Beatles (Pete Best) was kicked out of the band and replaced by Ringo Starr.

World's oldest person, Misao Okawa, dies weeks after 117th birthday.. I Picked her.. Got it -- SC had her, too. Pretty slow first quarter of the year...!

The great Stan Freberg died today at age 88. A famous humorist, satirist, voice artist (he was the voice of Marvin the Martian in the old Warner Bros. cartoons) and comedian, he will truly be missed. Actress Jayne Meadows died April 26 at age 95. She was the widow of TV pioneer Steve Allen, and her younger sister Audrey was the original Alice Kramden on "The Honeymooners." I had her on my list.  R.I.P. Signor V.
