Actress Maria "Movita" Casteneda died February 12, age 98. Also known as Movita, she appeared in the original 1935 version of Mutiny on the Bounty, as well as a number of other films. She also appeared in several episodes of Knott's Landing on television. Additionaly, she was the second wife of actor Marlon Brando, with whom she had two children.

I don't think so. Her son Miko was an assistant to Michael Jackson for several years, and I don't remember hearing anything negative about her daughter Rebecca. The Brando children you're probably thinking of are Christian and Cheyenne. They were half-siblings, I believe; same father (Marlon Brando), different mothers.

How sick is it that the first thing I think of when I hear of Leonard Nimoy's passing is to try to remember if I put him on my list (I did).

I always thought his character was the best on Star Trek, and I also thought he was good on Mission Impossible.

Rest in peace, Mr. Spock.

When I was a little boy my mother took me to some film he was in and he made an appearance at the theater (they did that in the 1960s) and we got his autograph. That's long gone, but Leonard Nimoy is someone I'll never forget. He had a decent career whether on "Star Trek," "Mission Impossible," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," or the series "In Search Of." He was always likeable and he will be missed.

Was sadly expecting this since he made public last February that he had COPD. If I remember right he said that he used to be a smoker up till 30 years ago when he quit. RIP to a great talent and human being.

I read an article yesterday that included a tweet by Nimoy (and I'm not sure how long ago) saying, "If you stop smoking AFTER you've been diagnosed with lung disease, it's too late." I'm assuming then he's had this disease for quite a while.

48 years old

As a Bulls fan I was never a Mason fan, but I always admired his effort. He may not have been the most talented player on the court, but no one played harder or made his teammates better than him. RIP Anthony Mason.

Minnie Minoso, 7 time allstar outfielder with the Indians and White Sox, has died at 90. Besides being among the pioneering generation of black and Latin stars in the majors, Minoso was an all around player who could beat you with his glove, bat, or legs.

And like that, more than twenty years have just disappeared. He wasn't the most talented Knick. As a matter of fact, Mase's biggest problem was that he thought he was better than he was. But man, was he a) tough, and b) blue collar.

It still breaks my heart that Ewing never got his ring. But Mase and Starks were the heart and soul of that early '90s team.

RIP, Anthony. Way too young. And I mean WAY too young .
