I'm have never been a Chipolte customer. However, why is it so disparaged? I usually keep up with news of all types, but for the life of me, I don't know the answer to my question. If any Board members have kept up with it, will you enlighten me? IIRC, They had a rash of e coli break outs at several franchises all in a short period of time and never really seemed to recover from the bad PR. Thanks.

Dude, you live in NY but you buy Cali olive oil? I've never tried it. Every time I go to the regular market I look over the bottles and not ONE says the oil is strictly just from Italy. It comes from a blend from a variety of countries, Greece, Spain, Tunisia etc. I curse under my breath every time. So I go over to Traders and they have one that's strictly made from Italy. That's the one I buy. Olivant, do you have a Trader Joe's by you? Try theirs. My daughter bought me an olive oil from Eataly for Christmas but I haven't tried it yet. I don't know why but I don't like Mario Batali and feel like a trendy person if I crack open that bottle But I'm sure it will be good. FYI- An acquaintance of mine has a brother who works for Traders up in Washington. The guy is Sicilian and he's responsible for all the Italian frozen and refrigerated packaged foods they sell on their shelves. He's a chef and those are his recipes. I've only had a couple, one being chicken Marsala or something like that. Well, that's his recipe. Pretty tasty for a prepackaged meal.

Olive trees are messy. We used to have a couple in our front yard here in Cali. Never did anything with the olives though. Well, you figure California does grow some of the best fruits and veggies (and weed.) The climate is similar to Italy so maybe Cali olive oils will taste close enough. When researching olive oil, I discovered that California has quite a large olive oil industry and that its oil is pretty much trusted.
