Santa Lori gave me a truly AWESOME book on Frank Sinatra. Its "The Sinatra Treasures" by Charles Pignone, and it contains a CD along with MANY perfectly duplicated and removable artifacts (including letters and program menus). The photos are rare and beautiful.

One of my favorite "extras" is a duplicated letter to Frank from Jerry Lewis. The letter thanked Sinatra for bringing Dean Martin onto the 1976 Labor Day Telethon (hosted by Lewis) which re-introduced the pair after 20 years of not talking to each other.

The book is a wonderful addition to any Sinatra fan's collection!!

I got mostly jewelry... a sapphire cross (aunt and uncle), a Cartier Trinity 3-gold ring (parents), 3 gold thick bangle bracelets (other set of aunt and uncle), an awesome Omega watch (uncle), etc etc etc. Those were my favorites. Besides that, there were a lot of un-creative people who gave money (always useful) and one that gave me a Borders gift card (SCORE!!).

I also got Bette Midler's new CD in my stocking (the one of Rosemary Clooney's songs), along with a few DVDs (including Taxi, Season 1!!!), and the usual candy and dark chocolate (mmmm!) and stuff.

More importantly than gifts (as cheesy as that sounds) I had a GREAT time... there were more people than we've ever had for Christmas before, because a bunch of out of town relatives came too. We were a little over 100 people at my house. It was really loud and really fun. One uncle that came from Switzerland put away a whole bottle of whiskey by himself... at one point, my sister came over to me and whispered "Check out the empty bottle in front of Joseph; he finished that himself... if you don't believe me, go smell him." Luckily, despite the booze, no one did anything stupid. A good time was had by all. Can't wait for New Year's!!

Btw, it was such a sunny day!! At least last year, it rained... this year, if you don't feel the cold, just looking out the window, it doesn't look any different from June 17th. I even took a walk down to the beach last night with some cousins to digest a bit after dinner. I'm kinda disappointed, but I really shouldn't complain; it's so beautiful.

Zia, great gifts! Lucky you!

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family. I loved everything I received.

three sweaters
purse
earrings
Poem (my favorite perfume)
gloves & scarf
sandals
slippers
money (from my parents)
Holiday Christmas pillow
Gift certificate to the Olive Garden (my boss)

Oh, and a couple good friends of mine gave me a holiday type ornament and a "friendship" plaque with a real nice "script" on friends. I know just where I'm gonna hang it.

Yes, I feel fortunate our weather is beautiful here in So. Cal today. Sun is shining and will be probably in the 70's. I'll tell ya, I miss Michigan and deeply miss my family. However I have NEVER once wished, longed for or craved a "White Christmas". I've never missed the snow. :p The Christmas spirit is in the heart anyway, not the weather. :p

And, I got John Lennon's "Acoustic" CD

Don Malta,

When I leased my new car, the salesman tried selling me XM Satellite for the car. I laughed at him saying " Now why in the world would I suscribe and pay for music on the radio? (old Guinea mentality ). So he tells me that he will throw in a subscription to XM for 3 months. Ok. Well after two weeks of listening to XM, I called up and subscribed! It's really great stuff! Non COmmercial music stations, regualar cable / satellite TV sports and News stations ( ESPN, FOX News,) specific channels dedicated to specific styles of music ( Rock, Jazz, Pop, etc.), specific channels dedicated to specific eras of music ( 40,s 50,s 60,s 70's, 80, 90,s ).
If you are driving from NY to Chicago, you can check the traffic report in every state that you will be traveling through by tuning into that state's station on XM. This year they have added Major League Baseball from every city that has a team! So if you want to listen to, let's say a Florida Marlins/San Fran game, you can tune onto a game much like the MLB pacakge on Cable TV. However on XM I believe that MLB from all over the country will be part of the package. So if your asking me if XM is worth it, I guess that my answer is yes!

Merry Christmas!

Just a couple examples of our ditzy my family is. My brother doesn't have a phone, so all us sisters pitched in and got him a track phone, with some extra prepaid minute cards. The sister who brought it was natually the last one to show up. So she hands my brother the bag and says read the card first, so that he'll know it's from all of us, and not just her. He's reading it and says, "ok, did you write it in invisible ink". She says read it, it says from "Judy, Angel, Mickie and Beth". Ummm....no it doesn't. She forgot to sign the card!!!

Then last week at my other sister's party she had a video camera. She comes into the kitchen saying she can't see anything out of it. We all just look at her and bust out laughing. I think you can guess...she had the lens cap on!!! It was even funnier when she did it a second time. I swear I'm adopted.
