Not sure if the same thing but when my back goes out, with simular pain....
I do both Heat and cold on by lower back.
I will do 20 minutes with a heating pad, then a little later do 20 min with a ice pack.
It gives relief.
If I keep to my excersise routines and my sit ups, it does not show up often.
I get it about twice or three times a year, my doc said it come and goes with weight fluxuation, keep off the extra pounds and the back should be fine, for me anyway.
