Ma used to love the perry Como show. Oh, yeah. Same here. My grandparents, too. Towards the end of his life he was living in a condo on the Jupiter Inlet down in Florida, just a few doors away from my in-laws. He lived to be almost 90 and had his voice right until the end. He was a true testament to clean living. You never read a thing about him boozing or carousing or any of that. Now, compared to the other extreme---namely the "Rat Pack"---he was a bit of a bore. But it worked for him. To each his own.

I think if I remember right Buddy Hackett was a barber and cut perry Como's hair. Buddy Hackett was the funniest stand-up I've ever seen. He and Don Rickles are 1 and 1a in my book.

perry como was a class act. he deserves tons of respect, I don't know if the mob ever controlled him like they did other Italian singers, but, he was one to look up to.
vic damone came from Brooklyn, and he said on the show regis, that his name was farinola and he knew a lot of bad people in his neighborhood.
he was quoted as saying that he only kept 20% of his earning, he didn't say where the rest went.

Strangers On A Train is on. Great film. Best scene: when Robert Walker pops the kid's balloon with his cigarette

For a wonderfully bizarre and grotesque film, catch the 1927 silent film The Unknown with Lon Chaney and Joan Crawford(!) on TCM early Monday morning at 6:00am (EDT). The film is a hoot! Chaney plays Alonzo, an armless knife-thrower in a Spanish circus who loves Joan. But, things are not what they seem (are they ever?). Watch this film (it runs under an hour) and I guarantee you'll never forget it. Definitely a must-see! Signor V.

I caught part of Arsenic & Old Lace yesterday. I really like Cary Grant. Funny movie. TIS Saw that was on, I watch that every Halloween. I know its not really scarey or anything but it is set on Halloween and in Brooklyn. Love it.

Food 4 thought PB....did u know that Buddy Hackett bought& lived inn Albert Anastasia's home in the Palisades circa 1963-to whenever??.had it redone to a certain degree..but for the most part, he wanted to live in his old friend's joint as is.

Thanks for mentioning the TCM app, Foots. I watched Public Enemy on the app. Also, yesterday The Hustler was on TV so I was happy I caught it. It was so nice to watch the scene where she can take care of her man when he was out of commission. So beautiful!! Those days seem to be long gone where a woman waits on her man, caters to him, is completely devoted to him. That's too bad.
Also I give Newman 3 meows...Meow, Meow, Meow because he is so charmingly handsome. Three times as a good lookin'stud in scruffy role in "HUD",shows up on tmc every so often..Patricia Neal in a oscar nominated role & oh how subtly sexy.. Saw Paul Newman eating at the stage deli yrs ago. People keep going up to him asking for autographs. The person I was with wanted to do the same thing. I told him can't you see the guy is trying to eat. Leave him alone their are enough knuckle heads bothering him already. To his credit Newman was very nice to all of them.

Just saw requiem for a heavy weight starring Anthony Quinn.
After seeing so much of the pope the last few days will watch the shoes of the fisherman starring Anthony Quinn tonight. I love that movie, I just checked TCM, do not see it listed. I must have missed it.
