He wasn't connected to the genovese family. According to the investigator on his case he was being surveilled due to a gun and drugs case connected to his entourage.

always thought this was overblown, downright strange, or at worst not true at all. there was a white rapper from yonkers name genovese (from the pharmacy chain) that was around BIG and the Bad Boy camp for a while right before his death. i always thought thats where this whole thing kinda stemmed from
combs as we know grew up with a few gambinos but by the late 90s he was in a position to do more for them than they could have for him

Overblown is probably right. We've never seen any specifics about these alleged connections because there likely aren't any.
At most, it would probably be a very loose extended connection, ie the video talks about ties between some of Biggie's business associates and the Genovese family. Maybe people knowing people in the music/entertainment industry, which the Genovese have traditionally been involved in.

They met at Mount St. Michael Academy in The Bronx sometime in the mid-80's and have been close friends ever since. Andrew Campos was one of the main guys in Tore Locascio's crew and was already an acting capo by the time he turned 31. The guy is filthy rich, is still very close to Puffy and can often be seen at his lavish parties. A lot of people think he's Greek because of his last name, but he's actually Italian. He doesn't need the life, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the entire Locascio crew is damn near legitimate these days.

Campos mother is Italian and his father is a Puerto Rican.
