Cancellation Watch: Can You Believe These TV Shows Might Get the Ax?

“Sleepy Hollow,” “Supergirl” are among the series on the chopping block as network executives plot fall schedules

“Sleepy Hollow” was a breakout hit for Fox back in 2013. But recent ratings have tanked. The season 3 premiere last month drew not even 3 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.

“The Odd Couple” drew a big audience for CBS last year. But this reboot of the 1970s sitcom has faded since, this month sinking to all-time ratings lows.

“Nashville” has never been a ratings winner, but ABC has kept it alive through four soapy, musical seasons. While its fans have remained steady, that might not be enough to guarantee season 5.

“The Muppets” did not get much love from critics. Nor have viewers loved this latest ABC vehicle for the variety-show puppets. The show has shed two-thirds of its audience since last fall.

“The Mysteries of Laura” has been a puzzler. Ratings have never been spectacular for this NBC crime drama. But star Debra Messing has a loyal audience that’s stuck with her through two seasons.

“Dr. Ken” is despised by critics, who have given it some of the worst reviews in recent memory. A small fan base is clustered around this ABC medical sitcom. But will it be enough for a sophomore season?

“The Carmichael Show” is a marginal performer for NBC. But this sitcom about an African-American family has at least held onto a small audience through a season and a half.

“The Grinder” is a critics’ darling, with some comparing it to “Arrested Development.” The hard part for Fox has been convincing ordinary viewers to watch this freshman sitcom about an actor pretending to be a lawyer.

“Supergirl” may not fly to season 2. The superhero drama has given CBS a welcome respite from procedurals. But the audience has been low by CBS standards.

“Castle” is the kind of show no one expected to last eight seasons. And yet ABC’s crime drama is clearly in jeopardy; September’s premiere was the lowest-ever season opener.

My wife likes watching Nashville and will be sad if that gets cancelled..

I don't watch any of those shows that might be cancelled (fortunately). However, I do like Person Of Interest which had been on hiatus and is now back for a few more series "finale" episodes. I hear Hawaii Five O is borderline as well.

Anyone watch the new show on A&E called Damien? Kind of creepy.

I watched an episode of The Adventures of Superman and in it was Chuck Conners. I didn't realize he was 6'6" and was from Brooklyn and attended Seton Hall.

He also played pro basketball with the Celtics and Pro baseball as well for the Cubs.

Looks like The Irishman is happening.

Well, next season could be the last for the Big Bang Theory. It's probably time. Sheldon's quirks are growing tiring and some of the plots have a jump the shark quality.

I thought Penney's and Leonard's marriage was anti-climatic and Sheldon's/Amy's relationship is approaching that also. Thank God it's still well written and funny.

The odd couple won an Emmy for best comedy the year it was cancelled.

Chuck Conners was a Brooklyn dodger baseball player before he got into acting.

Conners made two of the best westerns shown on tv. Riflemen and Branded

Can't wait for Independence Day sequel.

I wish they'd make a Close Encounters sequel.

6'9" Woman Gets Head Shots to Restart Her Acting Career: 'Nobody Believes How Tall You Are'

At 6'9", landing acting gigs is no easy task for actress Lindsay Hayward. And her bad head shots aren't helping.
To reignite her career, Hayward hires a photographer for new head shots in this exclusive clip from Tuesday's episode of My Giant Life.

"I'm here to get my head shots done, because last time I took head shots was a few years ago, so I definitely want to update my new, more radiant look," Hayward, 28, says in the clip. "I think that it's going to do wonders as far as getting my further in my acting career." But as it turns out, Hayward is looking for less of a head shot, and more of a body shot. "As a six-foot-nine-inch actress it's very, very important that I get full-length body shots because nobody believes how tall you are."

Gretchen Carlson, a broadcast veteran, claims in a sexual harassment lawsuit that she was let go from Fox News on June 23 as retaliation for rebuffing Roger Ailes' sexual advances.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in New Jersey Superior Court, states that her contract expired, and that despite working at Fox News for 11 years and being the host of a show that was leading in its afternoon time slot, she was unfairly terminated as the result of events much earlier.

According to the complaint, "When Carlson met with Ailes to discuss the discriminatory treatment to which she was being subjected, Ailes stated: 'I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then you'd be good and better and I'd be good and better,' adding that 'sometimes problems are easier to solve' that way. Carlson rebuffed Ailes' sexual demands at that meeting, and nine months later, Ailes ended her career at Fox News."

It’s so hard to imagine Roger Ailes being a sexist douchebag. I mean he is so nice in every other way.

Gretchen Carlson isn't the only woman who claims that Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes sexually harassed her while working at the cable news channel. More than 10 other women came forward on Wednesday afternoon with their own stories about Ailes' behavior, following Carlson's allegation in a lawsuit that she was fired from Fox News for not responding to Ailes' sexual advances. Another contributor recounted Ailes' explanation of the hiring process for on-air talent. “He always brags to people about how he doesn’t do polling or testing when he chooses his on-air talent," she told Fields. The only downside to this lawsuit is the inevitable release of the graphic and detailed sexual acts committed by human toad Ailes, and that this story has me imagining Roger nekkid which is a thought no person should have to experience.

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro says her former colleague Gretchen Carlson’s sexual harassment lawsuit against the network’s chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, is “absurd.”

Asked by TheWrap if Ailes ever subjected her to the kind of sexual advances Carlson says her boss made toward her in September, Pirro replied: “Are you kidding? That is so absurd.”

“When I read what was clearly absurdities, in this complaint, I said to myself, ‘How sad that you’ve got this woman who is making these complaints when there are real victims out there,'” Pirro told TheWrap.

The only person Pirro can be sure was or wasn't harassed by Ailes is Pirro.

I mean, I get that she wants to keep her job, but sometimes you should just stfu.

Roger Ailes' legal team now includes the general counsel of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as well as the former campaign manager for Michael Dukakis' 1988 presidential run.

On Friday, attorneys John B. Quinn and Susan Estrich made their first move on behalf of Ailes, who is facing allegations of discriminating against former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson. They filed papers aimed at first moving the legal battle from New Jersey to New York, and then having the case proceed in arbitration.

The latest court filings don't reveal much new about the dispute that erupted when Carlson's Fox News contract was not renewed. Carlson alleges she was let go from cable network on June 23 as retaliation for rebuffing Ailes' sexual advances while the Fox News CEO asserts she's trying to tar his reputation and is dodging contractual obligations by having this dispute litigated in open court.

As a chorus of prominent Fox News women have gone public defending Roger Ailes against the wave of sexual-harassment allegations sparked by former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit, the network’s biggest star, Megyn Kelly, has been conspicuously silent. Kelly’s refusal to join in Ailes’s orchestrated defense has led to speculation about why.

Now we have the answer. According to two sources briefed on parent company 21st Century Fox’s outside probe of the Fox News executive, led by New York–based law firm Paul, Weiss, Kelly has told investigators that Ailes made unwanted sexual advances toward her about ten years ago when she was a young correspondent at Fox. Kelly, according to the sources, has described her harassment by Ailes in detail.

Kelly’s comments to investigators might explain why the Murdochs are moving so quickly to oust Ailes. As New York reported yesterday, Rupert and sons James and Lachlan, the three top executives at 21st Century Fox, have, according to multiple sources, decided that Ailes needs to be removed. Kelly, who has become something of a feminist icon thanks to her tangles with GOP nominee Donald Trump, is seen by many inside Fox as the future of the network. She’s currently in contract negotiations, and given that Bill O’Reilly has said he’s considering retirement, Fox can’t afford to lose her.

According to two sources, Monday afternoon lawyers for 21st Century Fox gave Ailes a deadline of August 1 to resign or face being fired for cause. Ailes’s legal team — which now includes Susan Estrich, former campaign manager for Michael Dukakis — has yet to respond to the offer. Ailes has also received advice on strategy from Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, sources say.

Ailes’s strategy so far has included attacking Kelly in the press. According to sources, Ailes spokesperson Irena Briganti has been criticizing Kelly to reporters, saying she is selfish to not stand up for the man who gave her career opportunities. Roughly a dozen Fox women have praised Ailes since Carlson filed her suit. According to a Fox source, the pro-Ailes campaign has been led by Fox anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has filled in hosting Carlson's former 2 p.m. time slot.

Briganti did not respond to a request for comment.
Back in the mid-2000s, when Ailes allegedly harassed her, Kelly, a former corporate attorney, was a legal correspondent in Fox’s Washington bureau. Soon she was appearing regularly on Bill O’Reilly’s show and hosting her own legal segments. In 2010, Ailes gave her a two-hour daytime show, and in 2013, he moved her into prime time to replace Sean Hannity at 9 p.m.

When watching Michael and Kay during The Godfather's wedding scene, Michael spends an inordinate amount of time cutting or otherwise moving his food around on his plate, but not eating it. That scene prompts me to notice whether or not any character does the same in any show. Last night I watched a rerun of The Big Bang Theory during which the gang did the same thing while "eating" in the university's cafeteria (where many series' scenes take place).

I guess those scenes can be filmed at any time of the day or night and actors may or may not have an appetite especially if it's the 10th take. However, now I can't help but notice those scenes in any show I watch. Madonne!

You know what makes me laugh women in the service are constantly harassed by men in higher positions then the women. If that was either of my daughters those men would be dead.

I saw an old movie the other day on tv. The idol maker starring Ray Sharky poor departed junkie. But he was very good in that movie. Only bad thing about was they had commercials.

The Big Bang Theory is introducing members of Penny's family!

Katey Sagal will reunite with former co-star Kaley Cuoco on television's biggest comedy, playing Penny's mother, "Susan," executive producer Steve Molaro announced during Friday's Comic-Con panel.

30 Rock's Jack McBrayer has also been cast as Penny's drug-dealing brother, "Randall," it was revealed at the panel.

Sagal and McBrayer will make their Big Bang debuts in the season 10 premiere.

Sagan has had a nice television career. She was in that motor cycle gang tv shoe as well.

Glad Ray Donovan is back on our screens.

Hope its not the last season.

The first 2 episodes were bad. The third and fourth are better.
