He will lower taxes to companies that have money offshore, this will bring at least 2 trillions for companies to invest in the U.S. He will force manufacturers to built in the U.S. and create jobs. He will reign excess government spending. He will lower taxes for the middle class and companies to stimulate the economy.
There's a lot here in this post that I'm curious about, but most of all the bolded part. It's a two part question: Why do you think that power lies with the president? What exactly do you think can be done to force manufacturers to manufacture goods in the USA?

i It should not only being about buying things cheaper. If our companies knew that fact they would start making them here again.
Our companies do know that fact. Also, many of our companies are also trying to sell to the (much larger) global market, and not just the US market. Something rather important to consider. We tried implementing a large protectionist tariff on tires a few years ago. (It didn't go very well.) The tariff also forced consumers to spend $1.1 billion more on tires than they otherwise would have — or roughly $900,000 per U.S. tire industry job created. And retaliatory tariffs imposed by the Chinese further hurt our economy. In early 2010, China’s Ministry of Commerce imposed tariffs ranging from 50.3 to 105.4 percent on American poultry imports, which “reduced exports by $1 billion as U.S. poultry firms experienced a 90 percent collapse in their exports of chicken parts to China,” Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/432462/donald-trump-protectionist-tariffs-hurt-working-class

I've been importing from Asia for about 25 years, so I feel I have a good grasp of China's economy, a good part of my business depends on it.
We don't have a $500 bil trade def with China, it's more like 365-370 billion. Also, China is our third largest export market. That would be quite a blow to the US economy if it were cut off. We might not be able to weather that.
In addition we have a services trade surplus with China, currently running about $30 billion.(Then of course, we have US FDI in China corporate stocks, currently about $70 billion. )
Now, of course, many of the dollars from deficit actually do flow back into the US, through things such as real estate. 'Trade deficit' may sound horrible, but it seems widely misunderstood.

Having some kind of protectionist trade war with China would not be good for our economy. China is often accused of being currency manipulators when the US is the biggest currency manipulator in the world.

Truth is that American foreign policy is largely bi-partisan and has been for decades and decades with only a few minor differences, mostly in rhetoric. The war party has been in charge and members of that party belong to both the democratic and republican establishment. oak is super partisan, it's like trying to reason with somebody belonging to a cult. He is incapable of being objective due to his extreme warped worldview.

According to some of you China experts. We should surrender to China and let them walk over us. I feel much better now to know that it is only 370 billion dollar trade deficit.Let's put our heads in the sand and hope it will go away.
I am amazed that there is only a one way perception like it will be a blow to the US economy. I'm missing the part where anyone called for a 'surrender.' Also having trouble finding where anyone is only seeing this as one way. We live in a global economy now, it's not the 1950s. Of course it will impact China. And it will impact all of the foreign (many of which are American) owned companies that manufacture in China, which in turn will have other widely felt repercussions. So what's the plan in regard to issues like that? This is where diplomacy and good negotiating must take place and let China know that if they do not comply there will be serious economic consequences or they will suffer more.
It sounds like you mean we should threaten them with force if they dont agree to trade terms. But i dont want to assume that without your clarification. Also, do you think there is widespread support in the legislative branch for a trade war? Do you foresee any potential issues there?
