Between 2010 and 2012, detectives in RCMP “Project Clemenza” used a high-tech device to eavesdrop on a group of reputed mafia members who were sending each other encrypted messages on BlackBerry phones. Police believed the suspects were out to settle scores during the power vacuum that had emerged after the jailing of mob boss Vito Rizzuto.

On Nov. 24, 2011, a New Yorker named Salvatore (Sal the Ironworker) Montagna was shot dead on the outskirts of Montreal. Fearing more bloodletting was imminent, an RCMP-led team divulged its ongoing operation to local police, so they could make arrests in that gangland slaying....

It was apparently around the time of Montagna's murder. They're investigating if supposed evidence in relation to that murder case was leaked to select reporters, when it was supposed to remain confidential for the courts. I don't remember what exactly the articles said at the time, but whatever it was, some of the information they possessed and possibly later put into articles, should not have been shared. As it was supposed to remain confidential as case evidence.


But like the Gazzette article says, the "evidence" is under a publication ban, so for the time being, we don't know what that "evidence" is. At least, I am currently unaware of what the evidence is.

The way they talked it was put into print so that's why I wondering. But I don't remember anything that was put out that was "gamebreaking" other than maybe the Blackberry PIN messages but it didn't have what was in those messages.

Well looks like we'll never learn the behind the scenes stuff like the intercepted PIN messages, etc. that was in this case since all of them have pled out. I was looking forward to it.

Actually not a bad idea. Keep delaying as long as you can so you keep getting those 1.5 days (per day served). 7.5 years knocked off his sentence before he is even sentenced and my guess is he'll have 7.5 more to serve once he's sentenced to 15 years (my guess). Gives him time to stay alive and hope Leonardo and Stefano go down.

Per Paul Cherry's article from this past June 15 (Leonardo Rizzuto and Stefano Sollecito), the case resumes in October.

Gotta love canada. 14 years for a pre meditated murder plot and a case that would be completely un winnable at trial. And he has all types of serious priors. No wonder there are so many murders there .

It's a joke up there man. I'm surprised that this sentencing wasn't delayed yet again so he could keep snagging 1.5 days for every day he stayed in there. It's a win-win for him, he is not on the front lines and he's hoping by the time he gets out the Sicilian's are dead and gone because he will keep some power unless the Sicilian's kill his men.

But that story was the first time I seen any mention of him having "bad health". I wonder what is up?

Also a 5 year old lotto ticket? That smells to me. He might have shit hidden like ol' Walt did on Breaking Bad.
