It is tough to find much info on the Gigantes'
Vincent (1928-2005)
Pasquale (1921-1983)
Ralph (1930-1984)
Mario (1923- )
Louis (1932- ) Only one not in the life.

I have not read the newer Chin book and maybe it would answer a few of my inquiries.
Is it worth the read?

Can anyone answer a few of my questions?

#1. What did Ralph and Pasquale die from?
#2. Who was the first Gigante to get involved in the life, Pasquale? (seeing as he was the oldest) I am always intrigued when a younger brother attains a higher rank.
#3. Is Mario still active at the youthful age of 94? If so, is he still capo rank?
#4. What rank were Pasquale and Ralph?
#5. Why did Chin choose to have no family members in the administration? Worried about nepotism (Unlike the Gotti's and Persico's lol)
#6. Has anyone ever seen any photos of Ralph and Pasquale?

Thanks to anyone who has some answers.

If Louis is the priest, then I would argue he could be considered mobbed up.

Didn't he deny existence of the mafia and/or participate in Vincent's insanity ruse?

"He did time in Riker's rather than squeal on mob confessions." [New York Magazine, 1980]

Ralph Gigante

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

The book,The chin,is nothing we don't already know about Vincent and it doesn't say much about his brothers, apart from the priest, who sort of plays the same role has Billy bulger did for whitey.

According to Selwyn Raab in "Five Families", Father Louis Gigante officiated Tommy Eboli's funeral mass, was found guilty of evading questions put before him by a grand jury investigating Jimmy Nap bribing prison officials and "issued a personal appeal for leniency in behalf of Steven Crea" who was convicted of murder conspiracy in 1985 (the conviction was later overturned).

He also organized the South East Bronx Corporation which "built more than two thousand sorely needed new and renovated housing units, affordable apartments for low-income families and seniors". The building contractors included Vinnie DiNapoli and Steven Crea wink

Mario is still kicking and active at his age.He is current Consiglieri to the family, and Louis was always mobbed to the hilt even as a priest which kept him from being put behind bars.He is and was very politically connected and acted a messenger of money and mediator between local politicians, congressman ,mobsters,developers,etc..word was that he'd have big money delivered,Payoffs, bribes, etc hand delivered in collection baskets and boxes at his congregations he was affiliated with ! Its funny, you can still see his name in big bold letters high above and across ,on the very tops of buildings I think on the cross bronx you can see it !
