That was a good show, Olivant. Bruce Willis is always great.
I'm watching From Here to Eternity at the moment, never saw it. Great movie so far. Of course, that is supposedly the movie that Sinatra starred in courtesy of his "friends". It really was the perfect role for him too. I couldn't tell if he was acting or just being himself. Even though I don't care for Sinatra, the man, it was pretty awful to hear all that derogatory language directed at his character. Great cast. Excellent movie.

I saw this for the first time a couple years ago. You're right - excellent movie. The role was perfect for Sinatra, but what really made an impression was what a beast Ernest Borgnine was. I had only seen him as an old man before seeing this.

In a shocking reversal of fortune for one of the most prominent voices in TV news, Bill O’Reilly has been ousted from Fox News Channel amid the firestorm over sexual harassment allegations leveled against the host in recent years.
Parent company 21st Century Fox said Wednesday: “After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel.” Not a surprise really. As forgiving as the network may have wanted to be, once advertisers start to bail on a show in a highly-viewed time slot, it's over.

Good news for X File fans. It's returning for 10 episodes 2017/18. Always been a fan of the show. TIS http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/21/entertainment/x-files-new-episodes/

Watched Robin and the Seven Hoods today. Peter Falk has to be just about the best when it comes to portraying gangsters. Though a comedy, his portrayal rivals that of Abe Reles in Murder, Inc. I see that movie on the TCM app. I'm going to watch it, haven't seen it in a long time. Do you know the name of the movie that has Sinatra and Marlon Brando in it and Brando sings? I cannot think of which movie that is but I remember seeing it as a kid. Hi A-Girl I think you're thinking of Guys and Dolls. Haven't seen that in years. TIS

I watched Dr. Zhivago on TCM. That's definitely a chick flick. Omar Sharif is alright. Alec Guinness is an excellent actor. I like him in that movie and in The Bridge of the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. I plan to finish watching The Gambling House with Victor Mature. Good story so far. I can't help but think that his character is based on Joe Adonis. Seems to fit his persona. (Adonis was no small time racketeer though) Has anyone seen this movie? Your thoughts? Edit: Auto correct on iPhone changed Sharif to Sheriff lol

Are any of you fans of the Big Bang Theory? I am ... with a qualification.
I watch it and its reruns. But I've grown tired of and unamused by Sheldon. The writers have a field day with him. However, he's a 35(?) year old who has a tenuous grasp of sarcasm and human relationships. He's rude, ignorant, and selfish and he is aided and abetted by the rest of the show's characters.
Of course, it's just a TV show, right? I still watch it, though it's been many years since it was required viewing. My sense is that the guys are pushing 40 now. Sheldon ' s saving grace is that he's not supposed to be aware that a lot of his behavior is rude or hurtful. I think both Amy and Sheldon have been changed quite a bit, and aren't consistent with their original characters. I think the show is a little bit interesting now. I thought it was dead in the water a couple years ago, but they've done a 90 degree turn into one or maybe two generic domestic sitcoms. I don't expect anything like the first four seasons to happen again, but it could chug along indefinitely by adapting old Lucy and Honeymooners plot lines.

Getts, I'm planning on watching. I do have HBO "On Demand" and hope to see it at my leisure. I don't like most of DeNiros recent stuff but know he's a great actor and he sounds perfect for this role. I much prefer him in a good drama. Did you see it? TIS

I don't like most of DeNiros recent stuff but know he's a great actor and he sounds perfect for this role. I much prefer him in a good drama. The same with me, TIS. Too many of his recent roles blend into one (they're all the same). This one is similar. They portray Madoff as a controlling force over his family and that is tailor made for DeNiro's "disgusted" face (that he seems to use all the time now). The movie itself was OK, but just barely. You won't walk away from this feeling any sympathy for Madoff (not that he deserves any) and I'd recommend it to anyone who just wants to learn what this whole mess was about. But don't expect to be entertained by it.
