Wanna feel old? Here is a fairly recent photo showing (l. to r.) Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Chubby Checker and Bobby Rydell. Take a good look at the photo. Besides being former teen idols, can you guess what they all now have in common? (No, it's not Geritol... well, it might be...) The answer: They're all wearing toupees! Damn... I'm really feeling my years now... Signor V. e Aww. They ALL wear toupees? Actually toupee or not they all look pretty good tho Rydell looks the oldest. Yes, I remember Frankie in the Beach Party movies and his Venus in Blue Jeans; Chubby Checker will forever be the master of "The Twist." Fabian, is ok but the only song I remember by him is "Like a Tiger (?) My favorite of the group is probably Bobby Rydell. Loved Wildwood Days (edited. But wasn't there a Wild One as well?) and his "rock" version of "Volare." Speaking of the Twist. I remember when it came out and people wondered how to do it. The instruction was to "pretend you're wiping your backside with a towel and at the same time putting a cigarette out on the ground with your foot. TIS Btw, all but Chubby are Italian. Italians rock!!! Just saying.

Aww. They ALL wear toupees? Actually toupee or not they all look pretty good tho Rydell looks the oldest. Frankie Avalon is 77, and the oldest; he was born September 18, 1940. Bobby Rydell is 75; he was born April 26, 1942. Fabian is the youngest at age 74; he was born February 6, 1943. In July 2012, Bobby Rydell underwent a combination liver/kidney transplant. Here is a photo - sans toupee - taken in the hospital (for some reason, the photo won't upload here): Bobby Rydell after transplant As far as the others, having worked in the makeup/hair/wig business for over 40 years, I'm quite good at spotting toupees - though I will admit that there's a very slight possibility of Fabian having had transplants instead of wearing a "piece". Signor V. (hairless, but happy)

John Hillerman, the actor who made a career out of playing snooty types, including Tom Selleck’s fastidious estate caretaker Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on Magnum, P.I., died Thursday. He was 84.
Hillerman, who received four Emmy nominations in consecutive years for portraying Higgins and won in 1987, died at his home in Houston, family spokeswoman Lori De Waal told the Associated Press. She said the cause of death had not been determined.
Hillerman also appeared as Higgins on episodes of Murder, She Wrote and Simon & Simon.

2017 Deaths Hmmm... Maybe I'm not as sharp as I used to be (a definite possibility), but I'd say that at least one-third of those people are unrecognizable to me. Too bad there wasn't a list of names to go with that photo. Signor V.

You're much too modest, SV. You're not half as sharp as you used to be (and that's not saying much). Truth be told I don't recognize most of the faces in the photo.

SV first asked, "You wanna feel old?" Oh goodie, yea, can I? I recognize approximately a dozen people in that picture, but man, didn't realize so many celebrities died in one year. Maybe the ones I don't recognize are WAY before my time. Have a great day SV and SC and everyone on the BB. (hey I rhymed) Ok, I'll shut up now. TIS

Btw, just a tidbit. When I was in 11th grade my school had a fund raiser for St. Jude's Hospital. Students went to homes in neighborhoods to collect for St. Judes and whichever grade got the most donations won a ticket for a concert which included Chubby Checker, Frankie, Fabian and others (can't remember if Rydell was there.) It wasn't a Dick Clark event. I can't remember who sponsored it. Anyway I was so excited to go BUT as it turned out, the concert was on the same day as my sister's High School graduation. I remember telling my mom "I don't wanna go to a stupid graduation. I wanna go to the concert." My mom won and I missed the concert. TIS

I just saw a report that Charles Manson died. It is NOT confirmed yet, but if it's true - Good Riddance.
A few people picked him. From what I saw, his medical condition is still unknown, but still living. We might have a busy weekend with notable deaths, since King Michael of Romania is also facing the end of the line. But, yeah, I will be surprised if both somehow make it to 2018. Last I heard he was on his death bed. Yea, good riddance all right. The guy is so totally creepy. Also Malcom Young from ACDC passed away from Dementia I hear. Tho I know and don't mind the group, I can't say I would know the singers. Anyway, sorry to hear it. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/ac-dc-founder-...rc=bell-brknewsTIS

Mel Tillis, as famed for his recording career and songwriting as he was for his lifelong stutter, died early Sunday morning at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida, following a lengthy illness, a representative confirmed. He was 85. As a songwriter, he was known for hits that included the Bobby Bare single "Detroit City," Webb Pierce's "I'm Tired" and the 1969 crossover tune for Kenny Rogers & the First Edition, "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town." As a recording artist and performer, the affable Tillis was the CMA's Entertainer of the Year in 1976, a mainstream country-music superstar at a time when the genre was dominated by pop-leaning country and the burgeoning outlaw movement.

Oh, yeah! I remember seeing him in Smokey and the Bandit II and the Cannonball Run movies Adding onto this, it seems like David Cassidy is not going to recover and won't be able to do a liver transplant since his dementia http://www.tmz.com/2017/11/19/david-cassidy-icu-near-death-critical-condition/

Warren "Pete" Moore, an original member of the legendary Motown singing group the Miracles, died Sunday at the age of 78.
Motown founder Berry Gordy confirmed Moore's death in a statement. No cause of death was provided. Tho I couldn't name all the people in the Miracles, other than Smokey of course, sorry to hear of Pete Moore's passing. The Miracles contributed to one of the best sounds in music history IMO. Being born/raised in Michigan, Motown Music was our pride & joy. I still love the sound. There's just been nothing like it since. Not a C&W fan and tho I couldn't list his greatest hits, I certainly know who Mel Tillis is. Sorry to hear of his passing as well. Btw, years ago (90s) on one of my Vegas trips, Mel was performing at one of the Hotels. I wasn't aware that he had a stutter problem and I'll never forget the billboard which said "M M M M Mel Tillis. I'm assuming Mel was ok with joking about it. As far as Charles Manson, I'm sure he's in a very special spot in Hell. TIS

Songstress Della Reese has died. She always reminded me some of Ella Fitzgerald when I was a kid.
It's kind of odd - I think her acting took away a lot of attention from her singing, which was first-rate.
