I know people say he was completely stupid apparently, but he took his sentence and has kept his mouth shut the same as his brother and also Gene.
I know there were rumours about junior looking at a deal but on the whole all the Gotti's who have gone to jail have taken the time and got on with it. I understand people's view that John senior brought a lot of heat on the family, but they were stand up guys!

It's not much of a dynasty.
I mean the only two of note are John and Junior. John had, what, 2-3 years on the street that he didn't spend in jail or tied up in trials; the murder of Castellano, Amuso and Casso's purging of the Lucchese family and the Persico/Orena war were all instrumental in bringing more heat on the mafia and commencing a slump that has lasted to this day.
Getting back to Junior, nobody in his own family respected him, let alone other families, and but for dumb luck someone like Nicky Corozzo or Zeke Squitieri would've taken over sooner.
I mean even before I really got into researching the mafia, and only had cursory knowledge of who Junior Gotti was, I remember every article I read about him referring to him as if he was a disappointment to his father and/or a moron.
Don't get me started on Peter.
The rest are largely glorified street toughs who benefited solely from name association and nepotism.
Carmine Agnello was just a meathead who owned a junkyard.
I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

DON’S DEMOTION – DYING GOTTI TOOK REINS FROM JUNIOR That blows a big hole in Junior's defence that he quit the mob in 1999. Thanks bigfella.

Junior was very arrogant and not a very good boss, but the story that Junior wasn't respected and that the Genoveses wouldn't even meet with him wasn't true at all according to Mikey Scars. DiLeonardo said that Junior was a "power" and that the belief that some crime families didn't recognize him is totally false.
"When we were in the street, we met many times with [the administration of the Genovese family]," as well as the administrations of other families.

One eye won't be controlling the family, especially through Gene. Remember, Peter and his family were robbing Gene's shylock while he was locked up. As far Gene goes, he got a couple of envelopes from Bonanno, Colombo, and Genovese crews in Queens when he got out, so right there he is still respected. Gene might come back into the fold or he might just retire to make room for a new member to the family, Gambino s have some good talent that if not made, then they will be made sometime soon. Peter is through as a boss or capo.

be cool to see a gotti family tree of made guys. you had john, gene, peter, vincent and richard all brothers all made guys i dont care if there on the shelf today thats not the point. then john sr son jr is made and his daughetrs ex husband carmine whatever name. ive read richard has a son richard and another i forgot the name there also made. i dont know if peter or gene had kids who got made the other brother vincent is the one everyone says is shelved. john sr had more sisters and brothers i wonder how many first cousins are also inthe family. its like a small army never mind the badass grandkids. Pmac: Interesting you mentioned Richard and Vincent Gotti, the two other brothers. I was always interested in learning more about them, anyone have more info on them? Did they all come up in Carmine Faticos crew? When was Richard and Vincent made? Richie was a capo at one point I beleive, but his name isnt listed as a skipper in that big Gambino family chart thats always floating around with all the pics...So was he a skipper after John was already in jail doing life? Whos crew did he take over? Also, thought I remember reading that Vince was like a real scumbag didnt he have some sort of sexual charge, or maybe just a big drug dealer, could be confusing him with some other guys. Appreciate any resposne, thanks fellas

Alite says vincent gotti killed a girl in a hotel and was a cocaine dealer. Think richrd gotti took over petes crew when he becomes acting boss. Vincent wasnt made till after johns death. Pmac - thats right, he killed a woman..total piece of shit. So Vincent was made recently in the 2000s? Im assuming hes the youngest one. Are both he and Richard still active? Im guessing richard isnt still a capo, wonder what crew theyre in? I would think being a skipper having a Gotti in there crew would either be annoying as shit with them constantly trying to pull the family name card or waxing poetic about their asshole brother

John is in Brooklyn but not quite free, but still meets with guys who are not on any of the don't associate lists far and in between.

Zeke owes his rise to underboss/acting boss to being close buddies with Gene and getting along real good with Peter, but he was not really Boss material. Zeke was just a drug trafficker and not much else. His memorable meeting with the Albanians at a gas station shows he is no Carlo Gambino.

In that article, Gotti at picked his admin from prison and Peter changed it John can only pick his own successor, John can't decide who is in the new administration. Once the reigns pass to Peter then Peter can put who ever the fuck he wants in the administration. It is a case of John overstepping his reach.

Wasn't Peter a connected guy for something like 30 years before he got his button from his brother? , if so, he obviously wasn't among the most talented guys coming up in the Gambino family.

I cant remeber were i read but peter gotti refused a 11 yr plea deal which would have coverd all his charges including plotting to kill sammy the bull. He fucked up all his codefendants cause it was a global plea so all the guys who plead out before him got extra time. He would have been a free man like 7 yrs ago. Maybe still the boss. What he get 30yrs. Hes already did more time then his brother john who got locked up dec 1990 died 2002. Peters been in since 2003 next week will be 2018. His biggest regret should have plead out wonder if it was ego. He didn’t take the plea because once he’s eligible for parole had he taken it/ they would just charge him or attempt to conjure up some charges like they did to John Jr. so he figured either way he was screwed and took his chance at trial which he lost.
