Why kill an 89 year old man in jail? Unless he was gonna rat it doesn't seem like a good move. Three potential reasons: Reason 1 - He obviously pissed a lot of people off when he was on the streets. He may have killed someone and the victim may have had a family member locked up who wanted revenge. Reason 2 - Regardless of whether you think he was an actual snitch, or simply used Connolly for protection and never gave him real info, he was still considered a snitch by many people. Reason 3 - Some young punk may simply have wanted some street cred for taking out a street legend. Simple as that. What credibility could one possibly derive from murdering an 89 year old man? It's a bitch move. Not saying it makes sense. But in demented street logic, that 89 year old man was one of the most famous gangsters in US history. He was the subject of countless books and a movie starring Johnny Depp. Killing him cements the killer's name in the streets... again trying to think like a low-level hood/ or a mob associate trying to make a name for themselves.

Don't get me wrong, Stubbs, I knew where you were coming from. I just don't understand their logic. I mean I thought it was shitty of Greg Scarpa's son to beat up Vic Amuso that time because of Amuso's age and Amuso had only just turned 60. These people must think Lennox Lewis v Floyd Mayweather would be a fair fight.

This does not add up as a typical prison killing. He's transferred, then killed a day later. Not a good look for the federal prison system. +one

Take this for what it’s worth...
A member on BH said he saw on Twitter that supposedly he was wheeled into a corner where there were no cameras and 3 guys beat him with a slock and gouged out his eyes with a shiv.
Another poster said he heard the same thing.
A slock is a lock in a sock. Anything solid inside of a sock is a common prison weapon. Hard soap, canned goods, etc. have also been known to be used.

Damn, from that article: Law enforcement sources tell DailyMail.com that Whitey had been talking about outing people in the FBI – people in the top echelon of the informant program.
The sources said he hadn't even been processed at the West Virginia facility when he was killed. But someone who knew he was being transferred put the word out - the killer had to know he was coming.
It may not be a coincidence that Rep. Stephen Lynch is from Southie, Bulger's old turf. The Massachusetts Democrat last year introduced the Confidential Informant Accountability Act - which calls for congressional oversight into the selection and use of confidential informants. It's possible that Bulger was set to open up to someone on Lynch's team with claims of abuses in the program, and word got out.
Bulger's brother John told the on Tuesday that the family had not yet been notified of his death.
Meanwhile, a fellow inmate with Mafia connections is being investigated in the homicide, three sources briefed on the investigation told the Globe. Would be wild if a high ranking FBI agent from Boston passed along word to an incarcerated mobster from Boston to take him out... passed him word that Bulger was being transferred there to shut him up.

Anyway like you said good riddance LOL pmac knows his stuff. Knows more than I do about the mob. I'm just breaking balls. Careful about mentioning Jace. If you say her name five times in front of the mirror she will be back on the forum.

Rumor is it was the Mafia who killed him. One thing is sure about the Mob and it stands true, no matter how long it takes they will be patient to get revenge. Yes, I heard this as well. Apparently it was someone connected to the Italians. I have no idea if there's any truth to this though or if it's just people talking. Are there any known LCN members locked up at USP Hazelton?

He gave up a lot of info on the Italians in Boston back in the 80s right?
