A 28-year-old Colombian man was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by the Rotterdam court for his involvement in importing a 5.1-tonne cocaine in February 2018. The public prosecutor had demanded seven years in prison.

The 5,091 kilos of cocaine from Colombia was in a container that contained bananas according to the waybills. The container had to go to a company in Moerdijk, but ended up in a warehouse in Oss for unclear reasons. According to some statements because the bananas had to be 'checked', according to others because the warehouse in Moerdijk was already closed. Other bananas were already waiting in the shed to be packed in the container.

There were other suspects who had to take the drugs. According to justice, the Colombian only came to check the seal of the container. He has constantly invoked his right to remain silent. According to the OM, the other suspects did not know who he was.

Five Dutch suspects and a Belgian woman must be tried later. The clients for the transport are unknown.
