I passed on the NBA All-Star weekend this year. I usually record and watch it but had too much going this weekend so I decided to just skip it. I am looking forward to North Carolina/Duke in Men's College Basketball on Wednesday night from Cameron. The best rivalry in all of college sports IMO.

I remember the first All Star Weekend I watched, 1988. Cable had just become available in our area (unlike you east coasters who've had cable since the 70s). Larry Bird won the 3 point contest. Guys like Craig Hodges, Danny Ainge, and Byron Scott were in it. These guys never missed. The dunk contest came down to Dominique vs. MJ. It was in Chicago and the hometown judges gave it to Michael for doing his usual tomahawk dunk from the free throw line, robbing Dominique who did a two handed windmill, which at that time nobody had ever seen anyone do before. Might have been done on the street but never seen on television. What a show.

I still think Westbrook's potential 3rd straight season averaging a triple-double is more impressive. Harden's style of play is so boring. All ISO a la LeBron, Melo, etc. This is a reason why I don't currently watch the NBA. The game just isn't the same and hasn't been for me since Jordan retired for a second time in 1998. Also another reason why I respect and enjoy watching the Warriors play. They have 5 All-Stars on their team, they all buy in to the system, they pass the ball to the open man, they built that team from the ground up, and they're successful.

Great win for UNC against Duke last night on their own home court. Sucks Zion went down and so early. I kinda felt bad for the people who paid over $2,000 for a ticket. One individual was reported to have paid over $10,000 for one! eek

I respect Harden and Westbrook’s game. The people you mentioned will never be as dynamic or as fun to watch as Jordan and Kobe. Greek Freak is fun to watch I think.

Yes, Giannis is definitely a specimen and fun to watch. There's always an exception to the rule but the league as a whole, I don't really watch until the playoffs (which is unfortunate as they do have many stars).

Very different game now. Jordan and Kobe would feast in today’s era. So many young inexperienced players are coming into the league after 1 year of college. Definitely hurts the product a little.

Agreed, but the game's not played the same way. WAY too much iso (which I find extremely boring), the game's softer now (ever little thing is a foul) and the players are such complainers and crybabies when they don't get a call.

Tiger was amazing yesterday, When Molinari hit the ball into the water, Tiger knew right then and there if he could hold it together The Masters was his again for the 5th time.

And he did.

I enjoyed watching it happen.

NBA free agency has been crazy to say the least! KD and Kyrie to Brooklyn. Anthony Davis to the Lakers and now Kawhi AND Paul George to the Clippers. Plus, there's rumors going around now that Russell Westbrook might get traded from OKC. The landscape going in to next season is definitely changing!

As a Steelers fan, I am LMAO (along with every other Steelers fan) over the Raiders/Antonio Brown debacle.

The Ford family is clueless on how to build a good football team. It was clueless when William Clay Ford was running the Lions. And it's clueless now that his wife and daughter are running the Lions.

Quote
The Detroit Lions just gave their fans the worst gift imaginable — a lump of coal with a pencil stuck behind his ear, and a general manager who has taken this once proud mediocre organization and driven it into the dirt.

Hope you enjoy the holidays, Lions fans, and don’t forget to put down a deposit for 2020 season tickets!
Lions owner Martha Firestone Ford and her daughter Sheila Ford Hamp have decided to bring back general manager Bob Quinn and coach Matt Patricia for the 2020 season. Because this is the Lions way. This is the Ford way. Embracing loyalty. Rewarding mediocrity. Seeing progress where there is none. And making Lions fans suffer.

Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

Doesn't have anything on the Knicks IMO. Knicks have been terrible for the last 20+ years and the problem is ownership. The Knicks will never be relevant while James Dolan is owner!

I’m rarely Sad.

I hardly root or care for Sport results unless I wagered on them but today I was not only rooting but literally dressed head to toe and surrounded by people ritualistically prancing around for the Buffalo Bills.

This loss hurt and will move me far from any of the following playoffs games.
Hopefully I will get over it and watch the Stupid Bowl, if there is a good menu at party and I have more and larger boxes than I have now.

Fixed Bullshit, THe Ref who called the Houston TD in third quarter, that was not a TD, was the same ref who called the 15yrd penalty keeping Bills out of field goal range.\\
Wonder what his offshore account looks like.

I used to tell my students about former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel as an example of people who just can't stand success. Now I tell them about Antonio Brown, former Steeler, Raider, and Patriot.

He has managed to self-destruct after 7 successful years with the Steelers and being touted as one of the best receivers ever. Having been arrested a few days ago for a felony assault and ordered to undergo a psychiatric exam and ordered to wear a tracking device and ordered to remit his passport and running from reporters (on film), he is now near or at the bottom of the barrel.

Think some of the that may have to do with the sport as well. I don't follow football but I always believed Manziel seemed to be the kind of kid who believed his own hype. As for Brown, who konws? Maybe it's a situation like Junior Seau/Aaron Hernandez. Too many shots to the head/CTE. If you haven't seen it already olivant, on Netflix check out a 3 episode mini-series called KILLER INSIDE: THE MIND OF AARON HERNANDEZ. It's pretty good.

I've watched half of it, it's pretty good. Was he really gay? Unlucky to be brought up with a father figure like that if he was.

No idea on him being gay or not. Like I said, I don't follow football and this was the first I've heard of it. But even if he was, who cares?
