In turn, he was hit for retaliating on Commisso's behalf.

Weed wasn’t legal yet, but it was related to it, positioning of companies for government contracts. After Serrano survived and the girl was killed, it caused an investigation of sorts within the OC groups, on both sides of the Atlantic. Killing women in Canada, isn’t like it is in South Italy. After it turned out that, the information given to get the go ahead on the hits/attempted hits was misleading. They targeted both Commisso and his girlfriend/wife as a message from the otherside. It may have helped lay the framework for the current stability and apparent harmony amongst mobster in the GTA and Montreal currently.

In one scenario, wrong person is killed, and the consensus target survived. In the other scenario, both people are murdered regardless. I think Sergi was gunned down in his driveway or outside his house, as well. Something of an internal message of sorts, from what I could grasp??
