I just recently rented this and watched it again. It was the Director's Cut, which had about 17 extra minutes not seen in the original. They really add to the movie, IMO. I forgot how much this movie made me think. And Irishman, you're right, the cast is top notch, even the lesser-known actors/actresses. John Candy, Joe Pesci, Kevin Bacon, & Donald Sutherland, not to mention Wayne Night, were all great. And isn't it funny that Wayne Night's character is also "Newman" in JFK?

Yeah, I always laugh at that when he says "Newman turn it up." It is such a GREAT movie and it does make you think. I'm glad you rented it and enjoyed it. Is it in your top 10 yet?

[/b][/quote]Yep, see my previous posts. Actually, this was my favorite film for a long time. It's been replaced by the first Godfather, but I would still rate it in my Top 5.
Irishman, if you had to single out 1 or 2 scenes, which is/are your favorite(s)? For me, the Donald Sutherland "X" scene is one, along with the one where Costner takes his boys on a "walking tour" before deciding to go back into the case.

I love the scene where the secretery is telling everyone at the lunch table all about Oswald and they continue to flash back to him, while the picture of him is being superimposed for the Life magazine cover holding the rifle. That's one of my favorites, as well as the walking tour and questioning Clay Shaw on Easter Sunday (when he yells "Frankie") But probably my favorite scene is the closing argument in the courtroom or when Jim has his friend in the book depository and there are trying to "repeat" "Oswald's" performance with the rifle and they discuss where they would shoot and why, etc.

Iceman, seeing you like westerns, what did you think of Costner and Duvall's movie "Open Range"?

Never saw Wyatt Earp. I've only seen some clips and from what I've seen, the guy who plays Doc Holiday SUCKS compared to Val Kilmer's portral of the character in Tombstone. Which one's better and does anyone think Wyatt Earp is even worth watching? I know it's a lot longer than Tombstone

Well IMHO Val Kilmer does a much better job of portraying Doc Holiday that Dennis Quaid did in Wyatt Earp. Overall Tombstone is better.

Wyatt Earp starts out just about the end of the Civil War, when Wyatt earp is just a teenager so for that reason I think Wyatt Earp is still worth watching.

Does Wyatt Earp have as much humor as Tombstone did? That's 1 of the things that I loved most about it. Not only was it a great movie, but lots of the characters had their only little humerous lines. I don't know why (well I guess it's because I'm going to watch JFK tomorrow) but I really want to watch Natural Born Killers right now

Not really.

So for that reason you might not like it.

I must have been asleep at the wheel by forgetting Apollo 13. That is definitely in my all-time Top 10, so it definitely belongs on this list. I would nudge off Cape Fear, the Insider or Shawshank in favor of Apollo 13.

Yeah I'd have to give Jackie Brown a mention as well. What about your favorite movies since 2000 to the present? Off the top of my head and again not in any type of order:

1) Kill Bill Vol. 1
2) Kill Bill Vol. 2
3) Memento
4) Gladiator
5) The Passion of the Christ
6) Gangs of New York
7) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
8) X2
9) Spider-Man
10) The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Again this is off of the top of my head and I don't have my DVDs right in front of me so I just put something down for the last 4. Over the weekend when I look at my DVDs I'll make a better list.

Another movie from the 1990s that I feel should be mentioned and is overlooked is Spike Lee's Malcolm X. I really love the way it was done (and towards the end it seems a little slow/drawn out) but still a great movie with great performances!
