Seeing different reports; and on social media that Sonny Franzese has died. Can anyone confirm?? Apperently a old friend of his; received the news last night and posted on Instagram and Facebook. Also VladTV who has interviewed Micheal Franzese a few times has posted the news also.

The man was definitely a street legend. He was cut from a different cloth entirely and was the last remaining link to the founding (god)fathers of the commission. He came up under Profaci, knew Luciano and everybody. He never told on anyone a day in his life and just think, he’s the reason why Texas Chainsaw Massacre was made!

Sonny had a hell of a run. Yes, he also did terrible things, but I hope him and Michael were able to reconcile before he passed. There was another guy who posted here who was a family friend of Sonny’s. My condolences.

I doubt he met Luciano. There has been rumours he worked for Genovese so he probably met him at least once. I know he met Joe Profaci, Joe Colombo and capo Carmine Lombardozzi from the Gambino family. There is a picture of him meeting Rocky Graziano in the 1940s and he told a story on camera that Rocky didn't want to fight him because Sonny would of shot him if he beat him lol

His father was associated with other “Napolitani” hoodlums such as Vito Genovese (an early idol and mentor of Sonny), Mike Miranda, and other Camorristi, who later became inducted mafiosi.

To think Sonny was in the same age range of Fat Tony Salerno; Anthony Corallo; Paul Castellano; and Phil Rastelli is still a bit mind boggling to me. He outlived them all... Sonny was a old man in 1985-1986 when most of the bosses got sent away and he still lived 35 years after that.
