This pandemic is going to have some far-reaching effects:
1. Telecommuting will become permanent for millions of workers as businesses realize they can get their business done with much less office space and overhead. Office buildings will empty out. 2. Online shopping for everything will accelerate and become permanent, closing tens of thousands of retail businesses, large and small. Mall closings will accelerate. Municipal tax bases will shrink. Hundreds of thousands, if not millins, of retail jobs will disappear. 3. Online learning will become the rule, rather than the exception, leading to "classroom" sizes in thousands, with no intellectual interaction among teachers and students. More rote learning, less thinking and discussion. 4. Supermarket and restaurant delivery/pickup will become more widespread. 5. Social media will grow dramatically because people will spend weeks in isolation. 6. The travel industry may never recover. Airlines and cruise lines will have wholesale shakeouts and consolidations, with many gone forever. The enormous loss of wealth in the stock market will leave people with far less disposable income for travel and leisure for years. 7. Temporary movie theater closings will become permanent as studios directly stream first run movies to viewers, or through Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. 8. Sports fans will get more used to viewing their teams on TV rather than in stadiums. Ticket prices will fall. 8. With rallies and conventions cancelled due to Corona, political campaigning will change dramatically. This will probably help Trump, who will get far more exposure because he's the incumbent and already dominates the news cycle as no other president before him. The Dem candidate won't have big audiences and mass turnouts to boost his chances. Going forward, voters will have much less chance to see their candidates in action--only in ads and on social media, in images that they create for themselves.

Hell of a grim outlook, But I'd say you're spot on.

Every point you make checks off,,,,i cannot believe your first point has actually happened. Manhattan is a ghost town. One of my guys that is still going in told me his train has 3 people on it, typically its standing room only and several of my clients have abandoned their offices and are working from home. Problem is, there is no work to do.
My business has dropped off to practically nothing.

I get the feeling that that German barman is going to get a beating. Around me many business are shutting down for two weeks or longer, or reducing their staff.

Vitamin C is being used in China to treat Covid 19 victims, and even in the U.S.
Vitamin C protects the lungs from scarring from the virus. It also generates hydrogen peroxide in your cells. Hydrogen Peroxide disables coronaviruses per a 1977 study (see below). Vitamin C is also an anti viral causing viruses to be dormant. Your body needs Vitamin C to produce white blood cells. Therefore your immunity is enhanced when you have a robust supply of the nutrient.
In China the dosages often used are well over 10,000 milligrams a day for Covid 19 victims. It is one of the very first things given to a patient in that situation.
Thanks U...... this is very important since many will be cleaning items and surfaces more often they are used to and can easily make these mistakes that could be dangerous

Turnbull, I agree with everything you said accept for social gatherings, anything that promotes social gatherings I.e. parties, sporting events, movie theaters political events will always be a smash with the people because people love being around each other. I believe 9/11 has made us strong as far as not being a victim to fear. When we get this thing under control it will be business as usual. Americans can't wait to get back in crowds and say "we did it"!

40% of the confirmed cases in the US are now in New York.
Yes, I have a Police / Fire scanner and I can tell you the calls in my area of NY ( L.I. ) are either domestic violence which is on the rise due to people getting stir crazy from being cooped up, fighting over going out or not going out of the home or calls for virus victims being attended to. They are handling virus calls very often and its not just the elderly.
Be Healthy and Safe all.
I have not left my home other than a quick Cigar in the back yard for over 14 days and do not Plan on venturing out until I need Milk bread and eggs, which will be in another week or two. Maybe three. Hope I find those items when I do need them.

Yesterday, Wuhan reported no new cases for the first time since the outbreak started, WHO chief Ghebreyesus told a virtual news conference. There were fireworks in Wuhan as checkpoints are taken down, other cities in China ease controls.
