Survivor, American Idol, Amazing Race, The Apprentice, Fear Factor?

Or ones that noone wants to admit they watch: Trading Spouses, The Bachelorette, Nanny 911?

Even VH-1 has a "Celebreality" crapfest lineup with Strange Love, Surreal Life and Celebrity Fit Club. MTV has Room Raiders, Newlyweds and Real World.

Anyone get sucked into one of these?

I admit February is a bad time for me to be sucked into certain reality shows....it is sweeps time and a slow sports watching month for me.

I know personally a lot of us are discussing in private...let's let the cat out of the bag and bring it to the board.

btw - RunDMC: In answer to your question on another thread - Amazing Race begins next Tuesday the 1st. The return of wicked haaaaaadddd Rob and Ambuh is surely worth the price of admission!

Pork JG: One of the Survivor castaways Stephenie lives in Tom's River, Joisey. Is she making headlines where you live?

My step brother is on the waiting list for Fear Factor. That guy is competely crazy - there is NOTHING he won't do. I want to see him win 50K!!

(Ok, I really just want to see him eat something disgusting! )

Real World, Room Raiders, and The Surreal Life life I watch every week. I watched the first seasons of The Osbournes and Newlyweds too. Big Brother is also pretty good. Can't forget about Making the Band 2 either. -Pat

Patrick -

Did you watch Surreal Life last night? OMG....a T-R-A-I-N W-R-E-C-K.....!

I know I need intervention when I am watching a 40something Peter Brady living in a house with the likes of a male supermodel, Mini-Me Verne and a female amazonian wrestler.

I will do alot better when baseball games start being televised!!!

My fiance always watches those shows where they redecorate houses and rooms and whatnot, and I get sucked in to them every now and then. Usually there's too much talking with the idiot people that are doing the work, but I like seeing the results.

Reality shows are like soap operas. Once you start watching your hooked. I am sad to say, that I do watch reality shows, but I have severely cut down. I have limited them to Survivor, American Idol, and when the season starts, Big Brother.

Reality Shows is a misnomer. Psuedo-Reality Shows are more accurate. Never watched one, never will. When the commercials come on I get a gag reflex. They illustrate how self-absorbed our society has become. Other descriptors that come to mind - pretentious, contrived, self-indulgent.

I have so been sucked into the crapfest. I watch all of these The Surreal Life is my favorite! I liked Adrienne's Beauty and the Brady idea...I would probably watch that too, haha.

I watched Survivor only once. For whatever reason they simply don't interest me. I just don't find them entertaining or appealing.

Well said Mary Cas...I REALLY couldn't agree with you more! That said, I STILL can't turn away from American Idol, Survivor or the Apprentice.

I find it funny how some people I know will assume that I am a shallow, uneducated, uncouth individual for watching these shows when nothing could be further from the truth. For me it is mindless entertainment - a guilty pleasure if you will -in which I don't have to devote too much time or mental energy to.I can walk out of the room and if I miss 10 minutes - big whoop. It gives my work friends something to talk about by the water cooler - talking about people on TV rather than the alternative - gossiping about "real life" people we know. It's light, it's stupid, but it's fun for some people. I'm guilty as charged.

Funny these are the same people who give ME a hard time because I don't watch those "gripping dramas" on TV - you know...the TRUE and REAL ones like CSI, ER, and whatever the cop show du jour is ( I dont even know!!!) We all know THOSE are real. The retired cop I live with and all our friends in the biz will tell you how real that stuff is...

For the record, I have never seen an episode of Seinfeld, Everyone loves Raymond, South Park, Cheers or whatever sitcom has been out there the last 10 years not since I watched the Facts of Life when I was a teenager . Maybe I was too afraid I would get too attached to the characters in a weekly sitcom (I'm still not over Rachel not exactly being Ross's lobster...

That said, I must settle in to watch the Idol in 5 minutes. No sex, no violence, no vulgarity unless you count Ryan's hair. Something the whole family can watch together.

Go Mario and Nadia!!!! :p

Marcus Schenkenberg is on a reality show?
Omigod, shut UP!!!

Which one, which one, which one!?!?!?!?!

Wow, it's kind of sad that he had to stoop that low, but who cares, it's Marcus Schenkenberg!!! He can get away with anything, that one.

Well it's sad that I stooped that low and let my Valley side loose, too, though. And all concentrated in one post-- yikes.

I watch The Apprentice. My Economics teacher tapes it and we watch it in class every Friday.

I do watch some other shows. It's not like I make time to watch them, but if one's on I'll check it out. Today, I saw this one called "Super Sweet 16"... unbelievable.

Weird - I actually never heard anything about it. But then again, I don't read the local paper or anything... let alone watch the show.

Do you know her last name??

I have a lot of family members who like them, but me personally I hate them with a passion.

I'd love to whack whoever started this craze.

If I "had" to watch one, The Apprentice sounds intereting. I've never seen it. Does Trump actually hire one of these contestants?

If there is a good drama on another station, I'll pick that to reality shows or comedies.

Airline is interesting. I've flown Southwest from Midway Airport, so it's very relatable.

My favorite reality show remains one of the best reality shows...Cops! It's the best reason to wear a shirt all the time.

Funny you should say that.....I read somewhere that the two police departments that Cops came to film the most episodes of was Albuquerque and Miami. Recently, the mayor of Albuquerque tried to stop Cops from coming here because he thought it would send a negative message to the rest of the country about his city. I think it just says we have the craziest criminals and car chases.

They air Cops all the time here. I swear once I was at the gym and it was on one of the TVs and I looked over and saw the cop who was on the TV over on one of the weight machines by me!
