I didn't say I LIKED Constantstink, just didn't think he butchered this one as much as other songs. I think his voice is mediocre but it is not his voice that bothers me as much as his constant preening and face making. I'm embarrassed for him.

When he sang "You've Made Me So Very Happy" a few weeks ago, I thought then he did a decent job.

He is the middle of the bunch - neither good nor bad. Forgettable. Scott, Anthony, Constantine - they are all interchangeable to me. Decent voices but nothing special (whether looks, vibe, personality etc.) to back it up.

I don't like Scott's voice, or anything. He's a male Mikalah to me. He needs to be the next to go.

I really don't think there are any show stoppers this time. Nadia is the best "performer", but I don't think her voice is that strong. Some of her facial expressions get to me too. Plus, she's as thin as a mannequin.

Although I generally do not like Constantine, I thought he did pretty well last night. I'm still constantly annoyed by his glares into the camera but he sang the song well.

Yeah, Anwar is losing whatever it is he had. Great song choice, but Randy Jackson hit the nail on the head - he struggles at the lower ranges.

Carrie - I just don't get it. She's a good singer, pretty - but she looks terrified up there. If the "it factor" means she looks constipated before getting her reviews, then she has "it". Still, a very strong singer though.

Vonzell did great. Best of the night. The girl is growing on me. Very pretty.

Scott has one of the better voices and must sing full-on every week to make up for his lack of showmanship. Last night wasn't his best performance.

My bottom 3 would be Scott, Anthony, and Constantine with Scott leaving.

Who I think will be in the bottom 3 will be Scott, Anthony and Jessica with Scott leaving.

In all seriousness, okay - let's assume they have a BJ night. Jon himself can guest judge.

Bo of course would do Wanted Dead or Alive

Contstantstink: You give Love a Bad Name

Carrie-Okie: Never Say Goodbye

Nadia: Lay your Hands on Me

Nikko: Bad Medicine (with a little hip-hop dance!)

Anwar: Livin' On a Prayer

Jessica: Bed of Roses

Vonzell: I'll be There for you

Anthony: Runaway (Pulleeeze, he is WAY too vanilla for Bon Jovi!)

That all works for me.

But someone would have to give "It's my life" a try. At least just to irk Simon.

DB - I made the exact same pick earlier in the day. I didn't think Scott was bad - wasn't great but wasn't bad but I don't think he has the support. Although I really really really like the song he sang - One Last Cry - voted one of the best breakup songs. But tough to compare to Brian McKnight especially on a song like that. I really like the song Constinstink sung, one of my favorites and although I didn't think he sounded great vocally - I think he sung it pretty well, if that makes sense. He'll make it but sooner or later Bo or him has to go, they are not keeping 2 'rockers' in the top 6.

Scott is going - standing next to Anthony. Jessica is going back to the couch first.

An observation:

Last week when Mikaylah was booted, everyone was crying - ESPECIALLY Carrie, Nadia and Jessica. I got the impression then this was a pretty tight group and they looked really torn at the news of her leaving. With the exception of a little mist coming from Nadia towards the end, (and a kiss to the noggin from Constantine ) noone really shed tears for Jessica tonight.

I know what Carrie-bot is thinking!

"I'm gonna get Jess's votes next week!"

Carrie should be thanking her lucky stars. Not that she needs the votes that bad but Jessica's fans will probably flock to vote for the other blonde country/rock singer in the future....

This can't be bad news for Carrie.

The only prediction close to coming true is earlier when DB said 4 straight girls would be booted off. (I'm still wondering about the lesbians...although Nadia DID sing a Melissa Ethridge song). hmmmmmmmm. So far 3 girls have gotten the boot. I don't know if Nadia, Carrie or Vonzell would be voted off before Scott or Anthony. But we've all seen how America has voted so far.

While I was a bit surprised at the 3 bottom I do agree with Jessica getting booted. Even though I didn't have her listed among my 3. I did state I thought she stunk Tuesday. I just though Scott was worse.

Although I did have Jessica in my bottom 3, I didn't think she would go out so soon.

I wasn't all that surprised at Anwar being in the bottom 3. Although he is one of the best singers, I don't think he's shown us anything special. I think he may be a victim of lofty expectations, based on his performances in the earlier rounds.

Compare him with Vonzell. She's winning fans (me included) because she's gradually gotten better. Head-to-head though, it is difficult to say that she is a better singer than Anwar.

I predicted that Anwar would be in the bottom 3 because even though I am personally a fan of his vocal style and his look, he has not been able to "bring" it since he did "Moon River" and that rendition of "What's Going On" that would make Marvin Gaye proud. A downhill sprial ever since.

On the other hand I think Vonzell and Nikko have seriously upped their game and are competing hard. They are proving to be contenders and most improved as of late.

Nadia is in trouble due to bad song choices. The girl CAN sing and perform.

Sidebar to Bethie: You think she is too skinny? I think that the woman is fit and F-I-N-E!!! :p

I am curious - if someone asked Simon who he would sign to a record deal RIGHT NOW - if he would be able to answer. He might have enough faith in Carrie to sign her right now but I could not listen to a whole CD of her psuedo-Trisha Yearwood/Martina McBride style. At least Trisha and Martina have some passion in their singing.

To listen to Carrie is truly a passionless experience.

Bo? As I have said before....his fans love him. He could do a weak performance of Pop Goes the Weasel and get votes. He is talented and likeable. I think he is a one-trick rockin' pony but I am looking forward to seeing what else he can do. He is very interesting.

The rest? Scotty, Anthony, Constantine.....mediocre voices, even more mediocre packaging. Nothing special. I'd like to see Constantine around just for comedic entertainment value. Each year we have one - a Josh Gracin or a JPL (Jon Peter Lewis or as I liked to refer to him last year Just Please Leave... )

PS: Muppet Ford Commercial was cute. See Carrie and Anthony ghetto-ized!

I did not understand that Muppet commercial they did. I was perplexed. And the song choices they have for their "benefit" record or whatever it's for are ludicrous. I wouldn't listen to any of them for free.

I think the problem with this show is it IS a popularity contest. If someone sucks, their fans are still gonna vote for them so they get to still see their favorite next week. I vote for the performance I saw THAT night. There was one week when the guys really rocked, since then I haven't seen too many shows where everyone was on target.

Nadia could use a few big macs. I mean, a guy should have something to hold on, shouldn't they? I just hope she doesn't go in the bathroom on breaks and hurl. She just doesn't look healthy to me.

I think the judges touched on the voting last night with Ryan....it sometimes is a popularity contest.

I still maintain that they should change the voting to where you vote out your least favorite every week. I think that would eliminate people more accurately and then the last man/woman/Carrie standing would obviously be people's favorite.

I didn't watch Season 1 but I can tell you that my favorites in Season 2 and 3 never won the title of American Idol. Of course I know my taste in music and pop personalities is not like mainstream America either. )

I didn't watch AI at the beginning of AI, but have to admit I was pulling more for Justin then Kelly. I would have picked Clay over Reuben in season 2. I absoultely, utterly, gut wrenchingly could not stand Fantasia. When she butchered the National Anthem at the All Star Game she should have been shot on the spot. Her voice is like nails on a chalk board. I like all types of music be it rock, R&B or country. As long as the person can sing I'll vote for them. This year there's maybe 2 or 3 people who should be in the top 3. I agree that Scott and Anthony need to be the next 2 to go.

Scott could go next, his popularity is really waning. There is only so much "decent voice, bad packaging" that can go around.

But the Anthony love? I don't understand it. Anthony (or Clay Lite as some like to call him!) has a TON of fans. I think he is endearing to some because he overcame the language barrier; the tracheotomy barrier; some of teen set may think he is cute because he looks a little like Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. He IS a likeable personality.

But wait...did I mention vocals? Decent but nothing to write home about. And in my opinion oozes NO charisma.

But case in point - a guy I work with is a rabid Anthony fan. Thinks he should go on to win this whole thing!

But I must mention also this same coworker was pushing for Johnny Red (the crooner) last year so there ya go. What motivates America can be very different depending on who you ask.

A GUY at your work likes Anthony? Is he gay or metrosexual?

I didn't watch most of the show last year, so I don't know who Johnny is. Was it last year or the season before that country crooner Josh was on? He actually has a good couple songs out. So he did alright for himself even though he didn't win.

I guess this all comes down to WHO is voting. I don't think people fully understand you have to phone in and make your voice heard. Just because you like someone is not enough. Just like with last season. The strong ones left because people assumed they were safe. I wish they would tell us how many votes everyone got, or at least let us know them in order from most to least votes to at least know what the score is, so to speak.

BTW...the show ends at 9 o'clock for me here. Free cell phone minutes for me too.

Another spin:

How much do the producers (or Simon for that matter) of the show influence the final outcome?

If they felt that they did not want another woman of color to win this year (following Mantasia's win last year) could they influence somehow to see a white girl or guy wins?

What about all this talk about a 'rocker' winning it?

Season 1 winner: Kelly (young white woman)

Season 2: Ruuuuuuben (big black man)

Season 3: Fantasia (young black woman)

Season 4: 'Rocker'

Makes perfect sense to me.

If the final 2 were picked RIGHT now, I would honestly have to say it would be fair to be Bo and Carrie.

That might not be the same as what this American wants to see....

Wonder what the theme next week is? (Start thinking of a disco song Bo could do... )

Disco theme? Hmmmm....Bo's sang Remedy...how about The Bee Gee's Tragedy...hahaha.

Constanstink could do "How deep is your love".

Vonzelle could do "I will Survive".

I don't remember much of the disco era so my mind's now drawing a blank.

I think this whole show's rigged to be honest. How many don't think that little numbers misshap last week wasn't planned? The show's taped. You mean no one noticed 3 numbers being wrong during editing?

I think they influence the show plenty - especially Simon. I'm not saying they rig the vote counts (which I don't think they do, because if they did and it got out, they would alienate their entire viewing base - destroying their credibility and ENDING the show) - but there are plenty of indirect ways to push their favorites. Have the camera pan a little longer on Carrie, have Bo sing a little longer... or more indiscretely, have Simon pronounce that someone will definitely win.

What is the time limit for each singer? I would assume as the weeks go by and there's less singers they probably sing longer. But it seems to me in watching the past couple show some of them sing more verses.

I only watched it for the first time last season, but last year, as competitors got booted off, the remaining ones began to sing more verses and in the later shows, multiple songs.

Do they all have the same amount of time per show? I think Bo seems to go on alot long then some of the others sometimes. That shouldn't be the way it is. Or maybe sometimes it just seems to draaaaaaaaag on.

Good point DB...

I don't have a problem with the judges (and Paula ) critiqueing a contestants performance.

But sometimes Simon makes such bold statements and predictions on who will win the competetion. I can see some Average Joe or Jane being influenced. I mean c'mon, everyone wants to say they voted for the winner!!

And you are right about camera time and 'pimping'. That was the beef that Joseph and Sarah had when they got voted out. This is where I think a contestant has to work hard to have their personality and star potential come out.

I mean Mikaylah was a horrible singer, but her antics got her camera time. She knew how to work it to where everyone in America knew her name.

One just has to wonder where Carrie would be without Simon's contstant pimping. Could she win this on singing talent alone??? We'll never know. She is the most pimped contestant this year.

Whooo - AI talk

Although I thought Jessica was the next female to go I never thought she would have left went last night. I thought it was Scott's turn and although I do not believe he is a 'bad' singer, it's his time. I guess I was most surprised that Nadia and Anwar were in the bottom two though - I thought they both had a large following - and for the most part this is a big popularity contest at this point.

I found it interesting how Randy was kind of shaking his head looking at the bottom three saying this is a singing contest, you should vote for the best singer, not the best looking, blah blah blah and whacko Paula turns around saying pick your favorite and keep voting which is exactly against what Randy was saying and that is what I think the problem with the show is. People pick their favorites and they vote - regardless of how they performed.

As long as Mikalala aka The Nanny is gone I am happy.

So from the earlier posts - is next week a disco theme ?

I just read the theme for next week's show is going to be "Coast to Coast"... which covers beach tunes, traveling tunes, etc. For example... "California Girls", "Route 66", "Life is a Highway", "Georgia on My Mind", and so on...

Life is a Highway? Does anyone else hear Bo?

I can't off the top of my head think of an appropriate Martina McBride song Carrie could sing but there is always "Wrong Side of Memphis" by Trisha, or "Wide Open Spaces" by the Dixie Chicks.

Speaking of Memphis....what about "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohen? Betcha Constantine or Bo could pull that off.

I want to see Nikko hip hop some "Sweet Home Alabama". Hey, if Ruben could pull it off....

Ok, here is a bad one: Let's hear Anthony sing "Back in the USSR"!!!!!!

I'm down with Buffy's idea - vote off your least favorite. In essence, it's the same as the other ideal vote-off - one vote per phone line for your most favorite. Who really wants to vote more than once if you don't have to? (Or like me, I don't vote at all! )

The business side of things get in the way though - less votes, less opportunity to advertise, less revenue from text votes, etc...

I think Paula is on crack. More and more doused with a pint or two each week...

She could barely keep her eyes open this week!

I don't think traveling songs would include "100 bottles of beer on the wall" would it? That would be perfect for Scott.
