NJ -- the second hardest-hit state in the union -- has today lifted its stay-at-home order (not that I was able to stay at home myself anyway) after the governor was seen at protests that did not include any type of social distancing whatsoever (like most every protest). Infection stats have been on a decline here, and are relatively* low at this point (*tho people are still dying!), but I guess we'll see in a week or so whether we were ready or not (we're a shore area, beach/boardwalk, with lots of people coming in from neighboring states, all Summer long). I hope we are ready, but somehow I doubt it.

"Stage 2" openings here next Monday -- non-essential businesses & outdoor dining (with reduced occupancy + social distancing, etc) and limited DMV included. June 22 salons/barbers can open up, surely also with safety rules in place. I'm okay with it -- as long as people/businesses use Common Sense. Problem is, "common sense" is an oxymoron: it should be renamed "Uncommon Sense" or "Common Nonsense"

But I will admit -- SO FAR -- if the next week or two doesn't spike (here), we'll be in a better spot than I would've predicted in March/April....

The spikes we are currently seeing are from Memorial Day weekend, when every idiot went to jam-packed pool parties and barbecues. My nephew, who lives in Texas, made fun of us for the precautions we were taking. Then his father told him that two people he knew when he lived in NY had died, and one was on a ventilator. Now Texas is seeing a huge spike.

I understand the frustration and the desire to return to life as we knew it, but sometimes you have to readjust. Nobody made you any promises and nobody said that life was fair. If they did, they were just trying to sell you something. Stop being a selfish asshole, put on your mask, and move on. My daughter is a nurse. She wears a mask and/or face shield at least 50 hours a week. You can wear one for 45 minutes. Get over yourself.

The College scene is getting hit way harder. Clemson football team has over 20 players confirmed with the virus, University of Texas has a dozen confirmed players. That is just football not the other athletic departments.

In Holland many people want to stop with the social distancing in The Hague a demonstration turned into riots on Sunday.

Sound like a second wave to me.

We are not out of the first wave yet. Remember many states reopened cause the economy was getting bad and losing money.

One of our high schools held a banquet for the swim team at which virus-related protocols were not followed. Now, one of the student attendees has tested positive.

Covid growth is out of control here in AZ. Our town hosts "The World's Oldest Rodeo," which draws people from all over the world, and also stages a famous "Frontier Days" parade that has 30,000 -40,000 people lining our downtown streets--no chance whatsoever of social distancing.

Same story here in Texas TB. The Governor has re-closed the bars and reduced restaurant occupancy to 50%.

Our city council during an emergency meeting just voted 5-2 to require individuals to wear face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19 through Aug. 4.

We just had our return to work date pushed back (yet again - NOT complaining by the way). First it was supposed to be the Monday after Easter, then May 4th, then June 1st and now it's August 31. Luckily, I've been able to work from home and our company hasn't missed a beat so I'm in no rush to go back to the office.

Our governor ordered bars and gyms closed again. I'm pissed because our gym was kept spotlessly clean, with every other machine closed off, and sparse attendance. Every user meticulously wiped off machines before and after use. Very little risk in this rural area.

While the NHL isn’t identifying who has tested positive for the coronavirus or which team(s) they play on, it appears that the Blues have been hit by the virus. Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports (subscription required) that multiple players have tested positive and their identities have not been disclosed.

My wife told yesterday that 1 of the nurses in the COVID unit of the retirement comm. she works @ just died from this shit...f----ing scary...I'm glad she has nothing 2 do w/ that unit..if my wife got sick ..i would b a lost human being.

problem is we really don't know about the virus. china destroyed the notes. cases are also up due to more testing. the protests did not help either. no masks and no social distancing.
