Beth asked this last week too. *nerd alert* --->Bottom of page 13. Like I said before, literally all you need is a fan club or some kind of following... you just need $15,000 and a few signatures. Usually, there's like a "sponsor" of some sort who picks up the check for the 15 grand... like either a production company, or something like that. If you have a big enough fan club, they can raise the 15 grand and pay it, or whatever. So you don't really have to "deserve" it, necessarily. I mean I'm sure you have to have some kind of following-- I don't think they let any average Joe with $15,000 get a star; but pretty much if you have enough fans (which Ryan does, especially around here), you're set. Sure, any celebrity can afford to pay the 15 grand themselves, but usually they try to hide their vanity and "graciously" accept the offer from their production company (like Universal) or whatever other type of sponsor. Although most of the time (from what I hear) the stars ask the company for it, and the company's supposed to make it sound like their own idea. Or another common thing is that a company will actually think of it on their own, but they'll do it right around the time a new movie or album is coming out, and it fits right in with publicity for the movie. You'll notice this happens a lot more often when the upcoming movie is gonna SUCK big time. Gotta love Hollywood. Oh, and when the star ceremony is going on, one must avoid Hollywood Blvd like the plague, I swear. I think the only other time there's THAT much traffic on that street is during the Oscars. You can be literally parked in the middle of the street in traffic for at least 10 minutes in one place, and it'll take you like 5 or 6 green lights to get past one block.

Who the hell was Corey Clark? I wonder if this could exlain Mario's departure? Ex-‘Idol’ contestant claims Abdul affair Report: Corey Clark outlines relationship in book proposal Former "Idol" hopeful Corey Clark now claims he had an affair with Paula Abdul, according to the Globe magazine. Clarke reportedly is shopping around a book proposal. By Jeannette Walls MSNBC Updated: 9:21 a.m. ET April 22, 2005Has Paula Abdul been judging more than the singing talents of the hopefuls on “American Idol”? Corey Clark, a 24-year-old former contestant, is claiming that he had a “secret affair” with the 42-year-old judge from the hit show, according to the new issue of Globe magazine. Clarke reportedly is claiming that he had sex with Abdul in the guest room of her house, that she paid some of his expenses and promised to fund his career to the tune of $2 million, and that she made him vow to keep their relationship a secret. The allegations are reportedly from a book proposal that Clark has been shopping to publishers. “[Abdul] told [Clark] she wanted to look out for him and be his ‘special friend,’” according to the Globe article. “But he claims she warned him that he couldn’t tell anyone or she’d make things very hard for him, cautioning, ‘Don’t screw me or you’ll be sorry.’” The proposal apparently also describes how Abdul once came up behind Clark, rubbed his neck, and then they began “kissing passionately and feeling each other up” as they moved to the guest bedroom.

Lest we all worry that Constantine would ever fade into the sunset...
Constantine's Band Lands Contract
by Sarah Hall Apr 22, 2005, 3:20 PM PT
If Constantine Maroulis fails in his mission to become the next American Idol, at least he'll have something to fall back on.
The unkempt rocker's band, Pray for the Soul of Betty, has signed with Koch Records and will release its self-titled debut album on May 10.
The album was recorded in 2003 and 2004 and was completed before Maroulis tried out for Idol--a move that didn't sit well with his hardcore rock crew.
Ever on the watch for meaty storylines, Fox made the most of the ensuing drama by filming the singer's struggle to tell his band he was heading to Los Angeles to compete in the talent search and using the resulting footage on the show to play up Maroulis' angst-ridden image.
Besides frontman Maroulis, Pray for the Soul of Betty is made up of Joao Joya on guitar, Taylor, C.R. on bass and Hamboussi on drums.
The band claims to draws its inspiration from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age and Soundgarden. In a review of a live performance, the Hartford Courant compared the band's sound to "old-school Black Sabbath."
While their vocalist continues on his quest for super stardom, the other Betty bandmembers waxed enthusiastic about their record contract.
"Being with a company as dynamic and independent as Koch is ideal for Pray for the Soul of Betty--we've always carved our own path, just like Koch has," Taylor, C.R. said in a statement.
Koch Records General Manager and Executive Vice President Alan Grunblatt was positive about the band's prospects.
"Pray for the Soul of Betty is one of the best rock bands I've heard in years," Grunblatt stated. "Considering how popular Constantine Maroulis is, we should go gold for sure!"
Maroulis and friends aren't the first Idol-related act to sign with Koch. The label also served as home to Idol reject William Hung, who released his jaw-droppingly bad album, Inspiration, in 2004. Not that anyone's drawing comparisons...
It remains unclear how Maroulis would juggle his band duties with his Idol-mandated solo contract, should he win the contest.
Quirky song choices and fashion decisions (um, eyeliner?!) have cemented Maroulis' status as a fan favorite on Idol. At one point, he was even deemed "astonishing" by Simon Cowell.
With the pool of Idol wannabes down to a mere six contestants, Maroulis' chances of becoming the next Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard or Fantasia Barrino are increasing each week.
However, he'll have to outsing worthy competitors Bo Bice, Vonzell Solomon, Carrie Underwood, Scott Savol and Anthony Federov and earn America's votes before he can lay claim to the Idol crown.
Should it elude him, his fans may all be praying for the career of Constantine.

I only got to watch the last 1/2 hour of the show last night and I was wondering who won the reward challange and what was it? The reward challenge was a tough one - the eight members were randomly split into 2 groups of four. The point of the challenge was to build a tower at a point 50 feet from the shoreline in the ocean. The tower was made up of 5 or 6 separate pieces (about 30 lbs a piece). The tower was built one piece at a time and each team member had to at least swim back and forth from the shore to the tower building spot. You couldn't start building your tower or pick up your next piece until all 4 team members caught up (so each team's speed was determined by their slowest member). Sorry I couldn't describe it better - kind of tough to describe. In any case, Tom's team won (of course) and they were treated to a party attended by natives where they stuffed their faces until the skinny Vegas girl threw up. However, about the ending. Best. Ending. Ever. Stephenie rules!

It's reported that Ryan Seacrest confirmed this morning the theme for tonight's show is the 21st century (songs from 2000-current). I said in an earlier post many weeks back that I think Bo would OWN a 3Doors Down song! This could be his chance... Regarding Bethie's post about Paula and Corey Clark (ewww)...our radio station was reporting this morning that ABC is airing an "expose" on AI on May 5. There are rumors circulating she did Justin Guarini too in Season 1. (Ewww) Has anyone heard from Mario lately?

Stephenie rules! Agreed!!! She really struggles with the physical challenges but she never gives up and never complains. She is a real trooper and she is my favorite. I admit I was really freaked out at the Tribal Council. In all reality, nooone with half a brain would have ever VOTED a useless weakling like Janu out. It would have made sense for them (Greg and company) to take out Steph because she is a definite threat. Thank goodness Janu quit. I wonder though if she should really be allowed to be on the Jury. Of course it throws all the numbers off if they don't include her, but I would have rather seen them bring back the last person to be voted out (Bobby Jon?) to sit on the Jury rather than someone who quit.

Wait, who are we talking about here? Janu I'm guessing. Although Stephenie is my favorite, do you get a sense that she isn't very smart strategically, Buffy? I get the feeling that she lucked into Janu quitting. I believe her plea was heart-felt, but she didn't say it with the sole purpose of getting Janu to quit. If that's what she meant though... Brilliant!
Still my favorite though!

Janu was a waste of space!)...when I said she (Steph) struggles, I meant to add I think that alot of her physical strength is zapped from being on a losing team for so long. She is literally starving! Tired and malnourished. But you bring up a good point. Remember when Steph and Bobby Jon lost that puzzle challenge? They were way ahead. Granted, BJ didn't look like the keeper of brain cells, but Steph had a really hard time analyzing where the puzzle pieces fit and subsequently took too long trying to solve it. I agree...I thought Steph was toast at Tribal Council. If we are to thank anyone for persuading Janu to quit - we should thank Jeff Probst. He literally spelled it out for her and made up her mind! Now, DB - do you agree Janu should be able to sit on the Jury?

I will watch it to the end, but it is like a book you really don't enjoy reading, you just skim the pages because all you care about is how it ends. Season 2 and 3 I cared about the contestants and looked forward to watching and dishing about them. I felt there was some stars in the mix. This year - it is not the lack of talent that is such a problem for me but the lack of personality, drive and ambition. The show just seems like it was cookie-cuttered and pasted together sloppily. Maybe under the influence of Paula.

I didn't like her quitting for the mere reason it changed the whole game. No telling how long they would have kept her useless, vomitting self around. Who knows what would have happened. GO STEPH!!! No doubt in my mind that Steph was a goner last week had it not been for Janu. You can take Janu quitting in two ways. First way - you can take it as you did, not liking her quitting because it changed the game. I take it the other way - I liked that her quitting changed the game. Although this probably wasn't she was thinking (she was probably thinking "When can I get my next burger to throw up?" ) but here's my take: she was playing the game too. She knew she wasn't going to last and would be voted off eventually. She saw that none of the alliances tried to befriend her so she thought "Screw 'em. I'll screw up their plans." OK, maybe I'm thinking way too much into this...

Vonzell is probably the closest thing we can get to last season. She's just fun to watch. Um... What he said. But you'll watch as well. :p I think I get it an hour later than you guys out here. I have over 2 hours till the show. I'm trying to think if there was any good music in the 2000's? I know alot of Christina Aguilera and Destiny's Child and hip hop. Some alternative. Celine Dion? This show has T-R-A-I-N-W-R-E-C-K all over it. Scott should do some Bare Naked Ladies.....like the song of my signature - One Week. He would be sure to mess THAT one up!
