Lucky Luciano Dies (by SC)
Charles "Lucky" Luciano (born Salvatore Lucania) died on this day in 1962. He had a fatal heart attack at 5:26 p.m. at the Naples (Italy) International Airport.
"Charlie Lucky" was planning on selling the rights to his life story later that day and the Mob, ever fearful of publicity, ALLEGEDLY poisoned him to keep him quiet. (Thats never been proved... the official cause of his death was listed as a heart attack).
Luciano was probably THE single most influential mobster responsible for organizing the Mob as we know it today. (1931)
