Vincenzo “Jimmy Nap” Napoli - Numbers Racket Kingpin!

From his home base in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, local and federal law enforcement authorities long considered Jimmy Nap to head the largest policy-numbers gambling operation in the entire United States.

Jimmy largely had a reputation around New York as a "gentleman" gambler....a rarity among mafiosi.

When Michael Franzese was proposed for membership, Jimmy Nap made a complaint on behalf of the Genovese Family because Michael Franzese had some business with the Genoveses and he claimed that he should be made with the Genovese family and not the Colombo family.

Franzese did have some business with associates of Pasquale "Paddy Mack" Marchiola, a Genovese soldier whom I believe was in Jimmy Nap's crew. So the Genovese claimed he was with them and not with the Colombos.

The two families had a sit down and it was ruled that Franzese should be with the Colombo Family and he eventually got made.

That theory should be put to Michael Franzese. Is it safe to say he would of been more powerful and richer if he joined with the Genovese family?

I don't think the Genovese were really trying to get him made into their family. They knew his connections to the Colombo family were too strong. His father was a high ranking member, his cousin was a made guy.

My assessment is that they did this because they were afraid to lose the business he was doing with them. I'd think that was what the sitdown was about : the Genovese kept some of the business and agreed not to oppose his induction with the Colombos.

But yeah, had he been made with the Genovese, he would have been successful. But I'm not sure he would have been more successful. The Colombo family gave him a lot of leeway and didn't really disrupt him. He eventually got caught because that's what happen when you're running such a big operation. At some point, you get caught.

Where does the story of Jimmy Nap wanting Frazese in The Genoveses? If the source is Franzese, it is just him wanting to make as if everyone was fighting over him.

In his book, Franzese said the Genovese tried to oppose his induction because he was doing business with associates of Paddy Mack.

In a recent interview (i don't remember which one exactly) he said it was Jimmy Nap who went to the Colombo Family to oppose his induction.

Obviously, it's impossible to prove if it's true or not but I thought it was an interesting story to report on this thread.

IMO, I would take whatever he says with a large grain of salt.

Man I thought it would been pretty cool if Franzese Sr. had hooked up with the Genovese or Gambino family. Due to his longevity born in 1917 I imagine he would of done business for Don Vito or Don Carlo, that’s if he hadn’t already, I know he met Carmine Lombardozzi, Persico, Colombo, probably Profaci too right?

@Captbony1999.

I believe Sonny Franzese has met Profaci.

The only guy living who has most likely met Profaci is; Vincent Aloi...

He was made in the 1950's... He's in his early 90's now.

' Paddy Mack never made it to captain rank?
I think I read a story on him where people around him were getting killed, can't remember if it was before or after he, Mack, was murdered.

Paddy Mack was, in fact, a capo for many years, since probably the late 1960s. Up until his death he was still of that rank.

And yes, several of his guys got killed before his death, and several afterwards....all from the fallout of his activities and bad decision making. (As you know, I did the free "Paddy Whack" series on these killings that was posted up here on the forum.)
