it would appear in the lapresse article that carrolls gang the vikingz are now allied with marauders mc, who are a support club of the HA. this is new as in time around 2022/23 the vikingz were alleged to be allied with david turmel and the BMF, who were or are still at war with QC HA. perhaps this 'disappearance' has to do with the fallout of turmels arrest etc.

The Capaci massacre, the PM De Luca: «All lines of investigation are open, even on mysteries»
Investigations on 3 DNA samples extracted from evidence at the site of the explosion

by Editorial Staff

May 21, 2025

"All lines of investigation are open at this stage, especially those that in journalistic terms we can define as the mysteries of the massacres. There is a strenuous effort to verify any corner that has remained unexplored and to have the awareness that everything possible has really been done". This was stated by the prosecutor of Caltanissetta, Salvatore De Luca, interviewed by Tgr Sicilia, on the Capaci massacre of 23 May 1992 in which judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife and the men of his escort died.

Among the investigations underway, those on the three DNA profiles, of two men and a woman, which were extrapolated on some evidence found at the site of the explosion - a pair of latex gloves, a working torch written with the two batteries and a tube of mastic - kept in the Palace of Justice of Caltanissetta, shown in the report of Tgr Sicilia, which could belong to bomb disposal experts still unidentified. The profiles do not correspond to those of three suspects on whom a spotlight had been turned by the Prosecutor's Office. Their position has been archived.

Former Ukrainian politician shot dead on the street in Madrid
Author : Mark van Harreveld
Former Ukrainian politician Andri Portnov was shot dead on the street in Madrid. Portnov was a prominent adviser to pro-Russian former president Viktor Yanukovych, who was deposed in 2014. The attack was carried out in front of an American school, where Portnov had just dropped off his children, El País reports. The newspaper writes that two or three attackers killed him with five shots, one of them in the head.

Portnov was a key aide to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted in the 2014 Euromaidan revolution. After the revolution, the pro-Russian Portnov fled to Russia. He was placed on the European Union sanctions list for embezzlement of state funds and human rights violations in Ukraine, but was removed from the list a year later. In 2018, Ukrainian prosecutors opened an investigation into his possible involvement in the Russian annexation of Crimea, and an investigation into Portnov's corruption is still ongoing in Ukraine.

Not the first time
It is not the first crime involving either a high-ranking Russian or a high-ranking Ukrainian, particularly in Spain, which has a large expat community of both nationalities. In November and December 2022, six letter bombs were sent to high-profile targets in Spain, including Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid, government offices, a European Union satellite company and the US embassy. A 76-year-old retired Spanish civil servant whose social media searches suggested sympathies for Russia was jailed for the crimes.

In April 2022, a Russian businessman with ties to Russian gas company Novatek was found dead in an apparent suicide, and in February 2024, a Russian pilot who had defected to Ukraine in his helicopter was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking garage of his apartment building near Alicante.

Tensions between China and US flare again despite preliminary trade deal
Author : Fleur Nuijten
Just days after the US and China reached a deal on a temporary reduction in mutual import tariffs, tempers are running high again, this time over Huawei’s most advanced chips, with tirades being fired back and forth.

Earlier, Washington warned against the use of Huawei's AI chips. Beijing responded by accusing the Trump administration of undermining the consensus reached during trade talks in Geneva. In the Swiss city, the parties agreed to temporarily roll back the tariffs. The move is intended to ease trade tensions and give the world's two largest economies three more months to resolve their differences.

Accusations
China's Ministry of Commerce has also accused the US of "abusing export controls to suppress China", engaging in what it describes as typical acts of unilateral intimidation and protectionism. The fierce response comes after the US administration rolled back some Biden-era restrictions aimed at keeping advanced AI chips out of the hands of foreign rivals.

In the accompanying directive, Washington warned that using Huawei's Ascend chips "anywhere in the world" would violate U.S. export regulations. That wording has since been changed, with the reference to global reach removed. However, Beijing argues that the revised text is insufficient to resolve the dispute between the two countries.

Fighting Nvidia's Dominance
The Ascend chips are Huawei’s most powerful AI processors and are being used to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the development of high-end chips. As Huawei accelerates its efforts to develop its own high-end chips, the US chip giant has become increasingly concerned about losing access to the Chinese market, especially after the Trump administration restricted the export of Nvidia’s H20 AI chips to China.

Major strike against Italian-Albanian drug trafficking network: 52 suspects targeted

With the active assistance of Eurojust, the authorities in Italy and Albania have dealt a major blow to three linked organised crime groups (OCGs) involved in large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering. During a joint action day, arrest warrants were issued against 52 suspects, including individuals believed to be at the highest levels in the hierarchies of the OCGs. Eurojust supported the cooperation between the Italian and Albanian authorities by setting up a joint investigation team (JIT).

During the action day, authorities in both countries seized assets worth at least several millions euros, including apartments and companies, as well as various luxury vehicles. . Large amounts of cash and quantities of cocaine and heroin were also seized. A full and complete evaluation of the seizures will be carried out in the coming days.

No complete estimate of the total profits of the cooperation between the three OCGs is available. However, information obtained through the JIT shows that the criminal networks were involved in payments, often in cash, of close to EUR 5 million and the trafficking of at least 1 800 kilos of cocaine and heroin.

Investigations into the linked criminal organisations were initiated in 2016 by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bari and the Special Anti-Corruption and Organised Crime Prosecutor's Office of Tirana and the Albanian Police. On the Albanian side, one OCG, which operated from Durres, was responsible for the transport and wholesale distribution of large quantities of cocaine, heroin and cannabis trafficked between the Balkans, Northern Europe, South America and Puglia in Italy.

Two Italian-led criminal gangs carried out the cutting and packaging of illicit drugs and supplied cocaine and heroin from Latin America and Turkey to local gangs in organisations in Bari, Brindisi and Lecce.

The arrests in Italy and Albania are the result of a long-term collaboration through the JIT. This involved the use of wiretaps, intensive video surveillance, the monitoring of suspects and the analysis of encrypted chats. These chats were decrypted following intensive cooperation through Eurojust.

Since 2020, Eurojust has supported the authorities in Italy and Albania with the JIT. Furthermore, the Agency provided assistance with the execution of requests for Mutual Legal Assistance during the action day and gave cross-border judicial support. Albania is one of the twelve countries outside the European Union with a Liaison Prosecutor at Eurojust. The investigations were also coordinated and supported by the office of the dedicated security expert at the Italian Embassy in Tirana.

The judicial cooperation between Italy and Albania has already proven effective in recent years. Between 2018 and 2021, the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate of Bari issued and executed 118 arrest warrants against alleged drug traffickers operating in both countries. As a result, various defendants were sentenced up to 20 years imprisonment.

This week’s operation was carried out at the request of and by the following authorities:

Italy: Public Prosecutor's Office Bari - District Anti-Mafia Directorate; Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate Bari, under the coordination of the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate Rome, with support of the Office of the Security Expert at the Italian Embassy in Tirana

Albania: Special Anti-Corruption and Organised Crime Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) of Tirana; Albanian Police
